How many felonies?

Punitive damages easily into 8 figures. If you won't call this evil, then you're evil.

I wouldn't call it evil. As loosely as you throw that term around it is losing it's punch anyway. This could very well be a legitimate 3rd Amendment violation though. The issue would be defining a police officer as a soldier. Clearly these cops aren't too bright.

If you call this evil based on this single extremely biased emotionally overcharged article then that could be considered ignorant.
This entire article is the defendants account of what happened.
How do your reach a conclusion from that??
Any other references??

BTW - Defining evil is dependent on subjective factors which are applied by each individual looking at the situation.
In my mind, if this article were 100% true and accurate then I would say the officers acted with evil intent; however, I do not make judgements based on a single account provided by only one side.
Someone would probably have some type of biased agenda if they were to do that.

I kept that in mind. But I reached that conclusion based on the premise that if even 20% of this is true, the cops belong in the penitentiary and the citizens shouldn't have to work another day in their lives. And on a §1983 claim, each cop should be impoverished.

It certainly sounds bad as presented. If all that is true those men shouldn't be on the police force and should be answering for what was done.

I agree that the punishment should be severe.

Food for thought: My primary care Doctor shares an office with a hormone Doc. The hormone Doc drives a Maserati. That is irrelevant but my point is that every single time without exception I have been to that office there are one or more sheriff's there picking up their testosterone and HCG.
I would venture to say that almost all of them are on the juice.I can't help but wonder if that contributes to the battle mindset and the aggressive attitudes. Just wondering

It is possible. I would be surprised if cops are tested for that. Outside of that, hard to tell if this is the "whole" story?

This book is very relevant to this thread and answers many questions as to why our police forces have become militarized and see citizens as enemies.

Book:" Rise of the Warrior Cop"

Today’s armored-up policemen are a far cry from the constables of early America. The unrest of the 1960s brought about the invention of the SWAT unit—which in turn led to the debut of military tactics in the ranks of police officers. Nixon’s War on Drugs, Reagan’s War on Poverty, Clinton’s COPS program, the post–9/11 security state under Bush and Obama: by degrees, each of these innovations expanded and empowered police forces, always at the expense of civil liberties. And these are just four among a slew of reckless programs.

In Rise of the Warrior Cop, Balko shows how politicians’ ill-considered policies and relentless declarations of war against vague enemies like crime, drugs, and terror have blurred the distinction between cop and soldier. His fascinating, frightening narrative shows how over a generation, a creeping battlefield mentality has isolated and alienated American police officers and put them on a collision course with the values of a free society.

Should be an interesting read.
