Hello All,
Just wanted to check-in to see how the D units were moving this week.
Well, to all who have read my posts......If you are wondering, I still have not selected a carrier to contract with. Good grief...what a decision!!! UGH.

Well... I can say from the independant standpoint, it's dead in Detroit!

Where are you out of? That may be a good indicator on which company would be a good start. Also, are you going to run solo or team?

I'm out of NC.
Going to run as a team when I finally make the "Big Decision".
Been running for a small company in NC. They have no clue what they are doing....got to run far, far away from them. But, at least I came away with some experience!

Small, local companies aren't usually the best bet for teams. I almost signed up with one as a solo, and their words to me were "If we get you a run to Louisville, you're basically on your own... no paid dh".

NC has a few good companies there, and many more that have a constant flow of freight. I've heard good things about Epes Express and Nations Express. Panther is great with teams, and we've never had a prob getting out of the Carolinas. I'm sure others can give you ideas. Checking out the archives would help too.

Miss Laura:

You are experiencing one of the toughest decisions in expediting: What's the best carrier for me. All of us would not want to go to any single carrier and not any carrier would want all of us. It takes one a lot of effort to find just the right fit for a mentally and financially rewarding experience in expediting. You've made the right start by contacting most of the carriers that sponsor EO and in the meantime your nephew is helping you learn some of the pitfalls of the business.

As you've now experienced, January is among the slowest months for many of us in expediting, so don't hang your hat on a couple of slow weeks this month. You'll find a better carrier and things will get better as time goes by. If you can hold on for your major carrier decision until the end of March, you'll most likely find every bit of decision making info at the Mid-America Truck Show (MATS), March 23, 24, 25 in Louisville, KY. http://www.truckingshow.com/

Included within MATS' 900+ trucking related exhibiters, will be the EO organized EXPEDITE EXPERIENCE. A large part of the million+ square feet of exhibit space will be an area exclusively occupied by expedite carriers, expedite truck and truck component sales, and other expediter related exhibitors, including Expeditersonline.com.

Good luck with your research

Terry

Thank you for the information. Unfortuntely, waiting until March is not an option for me. Got to make a decision, and try to make some money.
I have registered for the show and I look forward to possibly meeting some of you there.
