Took my granddaughter and son fishing today. It was HOT! We did manage to get a couple of fish. Keep my "streak" going. I have not gotten "skunked' where we went today since I started fishing there over 55 years ago! :D

To top it off the Lotus was in bloom. Acres and acres of them. The air was heavy with their perfume. It is nice to see them back so strong. They were almost extinct at one time. LOTS of work and LOTS of money went in to restoring them. It has paid off.

Looks like that vegetation could plug up your water intake real fast. Kinda look like Lilly pads with a different flower..Been stuck in Lilly pads before and wasnt a easy task to get out of with push poles. Glad to see your getting some time and use of the new boat.

DTE has been a major player in the project. They are not flat like water lilly is. They were over two foot tall. They are an edible plant, a major food source in the marsh. We were fishing behind a Consumers power plant today. They too have spent time and money trying to bring them back.

Just did a lil reading on that plant because Im not sure I ever seen it out there or if I did I just took it as some sort of Lilly..
Seems a few property owners are against seeding the waters to bring this plant back..Greasy wheel sometimes gets greased..Lets hope not in this case.

MOST of the marsh left down here is State owned. Much is owned by DTE as well. It is spreading on it's own as well. If you get to come out and hunt with us this season you will see lotus seed pods floating everywhere.

Man its allmost time to start making those Oct plans isnt it..Dang where does the money go.
A road trip maybe tough to do again this year. Missed going up last year to the rice feilds..Now this year no motor boats are allowed on the waters up there thanks to the tree huggers. Going to need a few days just to figure out how to portage canoes and gear in that far.

(Gotta go...money on the truck)

Took ours last night onto Lake Michigan off Grand Haven. Grandson landed his first king; granddaughter landed a nice steelhead.

Fish or no, sure beat a good day's work. Sunset on the big lake made it all worthwhile.

Any idea whats coming off the pier at St.Joe/Benton Harbor? If ya heard any reports, Which pier?

Yep the St.Joe does produce some nice fish over there. Just gotta take the time to be there on the right day and it's Fish on pole after pole. I have seen at least 30 poles go off all in a row on more then one occasion on the north peir. On the right day fish coming out of the river will follow the peir around into clean water to flush their gills I am told, and its game on the whole lenght of the peir. Dont see it each time ya go but when ya do its what keeps ya coming back.
