So now we can't post a complaint about a moderator without the entire thread being removed??? What the heck?? Locking is one thing, to remove without comment is another. How far are we gonna go with this guys???:mad:

Fast forward a few hours and this is the scoop. The moderator in question has told me that he was not the one that locked the thread, if this is so, then I want to apologize publicly to him...so T-Hawk, I'm sorry for thinking that you did that, it appeared, because you were the last to post on it, that you had locked the thing. Again, I'm sorry.

The thread was removed for review. It does no good to leave the discussion up if we are deciding what our response is. That only invites more arguement. If a thread is locked, or moved by a moderator, there is a reason. Please leave it go.

PSSSST! DD, I think he's "one of them!" It's all right there really was a post there. I'm sure other people saw it also. There's even a big hole where it once was. That should be proof, unless you forgot to type a message in the body. But I saw the message, so it had to be real. Its all of "them". It's some kind of plot. SHHHHH! What was that? I think its "them" again.

Send me a private message. But not on E.O. Use the other method and don't forget to encode it. They're everywhere.

it starts off very subtly, first "they" erase things. Things you just know were there!
Then people start to disappear. POOOOF, gone , banished to the nether world.
Watch out, can book burnings be far behind?
How do you like your stake? thru the heart or on fire?

Horse hockey. If a decision can be made to "move it for review", then a decision was made, one that was made without taking time to decide what the response would be, as moving it was, in fact, the response.

From the Code of Conduct: "Offending posts may be deleted without notice. If a moderator or administrator must edit a post to remove offending comments, a note will be made by moderator. Posts may also be moved to a more appropriate forum without notice."

People can handle things however they wish, but for me, as far as I'm concerned, one of my posts was removed, and without comment, in direct conflict with the Code of Conduct the moderators have pledged to abide by. What was it about my post that made if fall into the category of an offending post (other than nothing whatsoever, I mean <snort>), and why was it removed without comment? Don't even for one second expect us to play by the rules that the moderators won't play by.

You (moderators) wanna slash and burn posts, fine, that's your prerogative, but as long as I play by your rules, I expect that when one of my posts gets removed, that you play by your rules, too, and make the note as to why. Nothing chaps my butt more than someone who does something and then refuses to be accountable for their actions. The Code of Conduct says leave a note, so damnit, leave a note. Otherwise, edit your rules to reflect the manner in which you intend to implement them.

I believe that covers moving posts to the truck wash forum when that is deemed appropriate. We're never going to please everyone no matter what we do and some of our mole hills are going to be deemed mountains by some people. I guess the regular lack of appreciation and unwarranted complaints and criticisms are the reason we get paid the big money for being moderators.

I didn't lock the thread, but I did move it to another forum for review by other moderators to ensure we arrived at the same consensus.
A third party interjected themselves into a dispute between two others that should have remained private. If several posts of a personal nature were removed, then the other remaining posts wouldn't have made a lot of sense to other members.
Apologies to the ones that got caught in the crossfire and their post was fine.
Simple as that.

Based on the way the thread went, I'd say that is a pretty fair assessment Dave. Good job.

Turtle,
Dave's explaination covers it. If a thread deteriorates to the point where it needs removed, we are not going to contact every person in the whole thread and tell them why. If we remove A POST we will tell you... we already explained why the thread was removed.

Let's let this one go.. enough is enough.
