Here is a quote I have to repair a 2012 DEF system...1st question is...this seems exorbitantly high...is it? 2nd question is this something my mechanic and I can do (long time truck mechanic) 3rd question cant I buy the parts for lots less...these prices are retail plus...Some of this we dont have the equipment or machine to do ourselves??

That looks about right to me.

You can bolt all of this stuff on yourself, but you'll need software to reset things and clear codes. There's a thread on here about doing burner maintenance. Those prices look realistic and I don't know of other sources besides the dealer.
