'Hiking' SC Gov Returns From Buenos Aires

Mark Sanford is missing no more. The AWOL South Carolina governor surfaced early today at an Atlanta airport, saying he had just returned not from hiking the Appalachian Trail, but from cruising the Buenos Aires coastline, The State reports. As to why his staff said he was hiking, Sanford said he’d told them he might hike the AT, but later changed his mind. “I said ‘no’ I wanted to do something exotic.”

Sanford said he’d taken the trip to recharge after a bruising battle with the legislature over the stimulus. He’d originally planned to stay an extra day, until his chief of staff contacted him and told him about the media storm his disappearance had caused. “I don’t know how this thing got blown out of proportion,” he said.

Imagine that. Someone wants to take a vacation. Someone was able to get in touch so if there would have be an emergency they could have gotten in touch with him and he could havee gotten back. Hoe is this any different that the Obama taking his family to Paris on a business/vacation trip on our dime, or taking his wife to a Broadway Show on our dime?

On Monday Sanford's staff said he was hiking the Appalachian Trail. A day later, they said he had called and planned to cut his trip short and return to work Wednesday because of all the attention his absence was getting. They thought he was still in the Appalachians. They didn't know. That's bizarre. Or, if they knew, why did they lie? And if they didn't know, why did they lie about the Appalachians in the first place? Bizarre.

I think he flew out of Atlanta, took the Red Eye under the name Bob Jones to Thailand, got his freak on, then came back through Argentina. :D

Take a vacation? On Fathers day without your family? So much for family values, what a fraud. He's the Govenor of S.C. for God's sake, I think it might be a good idea to let someone know where you are or atleast be able to be reached in case you are needed.

I posted this story because of how bizzare it was and you try to parallel it with Obama going to Paris? Way to deflect their Ark.

Well it doesn't surprise me, as I am typing this Rush is on doing the same thing. Unbelievable.

Sanford Cops to Affair With Argentine Woman

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford admitted today that he has been having an affair with an Argentine woman, Politico reports. “I’ve been unfaithful to be my wife,” the Republican said at a news conference, adding that “it began very innocently.” The governor’s recent absence from the capital was first explained as a hiking trip, and then a vacation to Buenos Aires. He says he is resigning as chairman of the Republican Governors Association.

That would explain why Rush was screaming about Clinton, Spitzer and saying atleast this guy came out and admitted it. So if you admit to having an affair its okay, hmmmmm. What makes this so bad is that it goes against everything the Republicans say they stand for. It is unfortunate I feel bad for his wife and kids.

Maybe Eliot Spitzer could recommend a good therapist for this guy, since it's obvious he's got some of the same loose wiring problems in the attic. Better now to have him wander off the reservation now than to have it happen after the GOP begins to seriously consider him for bigger and better things. On the other hand, Bill Clinton was forgiven for his bimbo eruptions multiple times while he was governor of AR - perhaps if Sanford bites his lip and begs forgiveness he could end up in the White House after all is said and done.

Look this is a governor, just like other governors and he has zero effect on the nation but his state. I would love to see Granholm get caught but she has been doing this for a while.

Well anywho Andy, the thing is when it is a governor, his impact with blackmail and other extortion is limited while if it is a president, there are really no limits. Say Monica blackmailed Billy to cut off talks with the French over the importation of Grey Poupon (she owns stock in French's, the makers of French's yellow mustard and wants to cash in on the banning of Grety Poupon), Billy gives in and bans the special stuff, a trade war happens and it becomes a mess when the people are going as far as smuggling it through the Canandian border.

Now I know you great thinkers will think that is crazy or you are so star struck with any democrat that you are numb but actually that is one of the scenarios that is used when you go for some basic diplomatic training for the diplomatic corp.

Alright. When I made my comment I thought it was an innocent vacation. I didn't know he was cheating on his wife. I was comparing vacation to vacation. All I was saying he took a vacation on his dime Obama took his family on our dime while our economy is in the sh!tter. Oh that's right, it's all Bush's fault. it has nothing to do with the trillions he has wasted. I'm ready for 2012 to get here and hopefully people will pull their head out of their butt and vote Obama out of office. Of course our liberal media is going to shed light on every republican that messes up. I guess no democrats screw up anymore? Yeah Right!!!

This is clearly George Bush's fault. He started this economic stimulus stuff. Poor Governor Sanford became over stimulated with all this new stimulus stuff and had to seek alternative stimulus. Doing a tango is as physically demanding as hiking the AP.

Here's where Obama gets some of the blame. He expanded on this stimulus nonsense and took his family to Paris. Buenos Aires is the Southern Hemisphere's equivalent to Paris. Airfare is cheaper to Buenos Aires than Paris. Being a fiscally responsible Republican Governor, Sanford opted for Buenos Aires, traveling alone.

It takes two to tango!

Some of you have really lost your friggen' minds. This guy was being interviewed for the Vice Presidency for McCain, he has been rumored to run for the Presidency in 2012, he has been in the news for turning down stimulus money from the govt., he is an outspoken traditional conservitive and he is missing for almost a week!!!!!! This was a story that I thought was very bizarre so I posted it(before knowing that it was an affair story) because of that and you people come running to his defense by saying, "the man took a vacation, if Obama can fly off to Paris, blah, blah, blah," and "Oh yeah, what about Clinton and Spitzer and Kennedy and any other Democrat you can think of, what about them?" And then this was the kicker, I hear Rush saying atleast he admitted to it and didn't try and hide it and lie about it like Clinton, and blah, blah, blah. So its okay to run off to Venezuela to be with your mistress as long as you come back and admit it. You guys are hypocrites and pathetic.

Seriously you guys, you are not comedic writers, do not try and be like Rush, Beck or O'reilly there hacks I know they are your hereos(that last comment will get this thread hijacked). This has nothing to do with Obama, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc, etc, it has to with you guys just not being funny. I've never had more fun in my life then the 48 hours I spent in the El Presidente Hotel in the middle of the fashion district in Buenos Aires (the Hilton had electrical problems). I was single at the time and did not spend my time crying. Sanfords a hypocritical conservative high horse lire,like most of them. It's appropriate Rush should forgive him. I feel so much better knowing that forgiveness has been anointed by the parties leading spokes person.

Next time I have a marital crisis in my life I know where I'm heading to work it all out.

While doing a tango can be demanding, I've always found the horizontal mambo to be far more invigorating ..... as well as a lot more fun ..... :rolleyes:
