Had SWRs checked they were 2.2 I have a Freightliner were the antenna's screw into the mirror's. The drivers side antenna is for the C.B. and passenger side is for the T.V. and stereo from there both antenna wires go to A box in the dash that splits everything up. The c.b. antenna is A 4.5 ft wilson pretuned firestick. im wondering if I changed to the metal wilson that has the adjustable top piece to tune the antenne if I could get the S.W.R.s way below 2.2. Any help would be greatly apreceated thanks

Youd be better off to install a new cable for the CB antenna ALONE and use the Wilson Trucker style antyenna, Ive always had great luck with these and they are trimmable so you can fine tune the SWR settings,

I'm with Pearlpro, use a different antenna. I had mine installed at the exit 99 CB shop in Anna, OH. (I 75). They used a stud to replace one of the mirror mount bolts to mount the antenna to get a better ground. It's not a perfect match, but they got it down to 1.(something).

Spend a few dollars on a 2ga cable and run a ground from the cab ground post to the frame ground stud. Freightliners have a terrible ground on the cab. The cab grounding post is located right in front of the driver under the hood (has a few wires running to one post) Frame ground or main ground is right behind the drivers side front shock. Do that before you start throwing money away on CB stuff.

Agreed the GROUND is a major issue with many trucks, if you get that SWR down to just below 2 or lower youll be fine, Im not a fan of the Mirror mount antenna combiner its not the perfect solution yet an economical solution used by several factorys, Running a fresh clean coax, installing the ground and a new Wilson trucker 2 and youll be in Tall cotton...You dont need the 5000 watt version, the smaller one works great, has a adjustable antenna for getting that SWR down further....
