What is typically the best and worst times for expediting?

I'm trying to figure out if I should go ahead and try to start now or wait until after the first of the year.

Start now as the last few months of the year are generally very busy but January through March is slow.

This time of year used to be the best, but any more who knows.
When its suppose to be bad I do really good, when its suppose to be really good I do just avg.

And the beginning of the year can be good if we have a bad winter, because a lot of driver do there vacation time then, but like last year the beginning of 2006 the winter was mild so a lot of driver stayed out.

This business has been changing from what it used to be.

And I guess it really depends what you are driving.

If you are serious about this business, start now. It makes little difference when the high and low seasons are. If it is slow you will have a time to break in. If it stays as busy as we have been the last 6 weeks or so you will get broke in!!!!

January was our best month last year. The only slow months were Feb and Mar and we made our minimum that we had set for ourselves when we started.

Try not to take the really high quotes on what you can make and, also, don't put too much stock in the really negitive remarks. There is money to be made, IF YOU WORK HARD AT IT!!!! There is no secret to this. STAY IN SERVICE and ALWAYS BE ON TIME!!!

There will be good weeks and bad ones, it will work out over the year. You are the biggest variable. There is a bit of luck but you can force that luck by staying in service as much as your situation allows you to. Good Luck. Layoutshooter

Can anyone really define slow or busy?
I thinks it would be more of a personal needs thingee. I am only averaging 6g's a month since being an American driver compared to over 7g's being a Canuck go figure...That being said I'd say slow...others wpuld say I've been busy. Perspective.

Yes sometimes you have to move areas on your own dime, waiting can be costly. If your company doesn't have business in a certain area MOVE. If you wait for that authorized move it could cost you bucks. Be smart out there. There is money on them streets.

This is going to vary quite a bit from company to company. This will not apply to everyone. Some rules of thumb though are the first two weeks of July are slow & after Thanksgiving it gets slow until Feb/March or so.

Other than that presumably it should be busy. It doesn't always work out that way by any means though. Some might be busy over Christmas & July or might have a lousy August or what have ya.

I'm not so sure when ya start so much matters. It would be wise to have some cash reserves in hand but that would apply no matter what time of the year ya started. If ya have that taken care of, I'd say to start now.

Take care & good luck,
Danny
