Need all the help we can get from experienced expeditors. Would appreciate hearing from ya'll about questions you wish you knew to ask before you signed on with a company! I know there are probably a million of them. Thanks.

Here are a few questions I think are important:

1. Escrow Accounts (How much? The terms, etc).
2. Insurance (Cargo Insurance, liability costs).
3. Ask for a list of ALL "Start-up" fees.
4. Dispatch procedure (random, first-in first out, computer).
5. Communications i.e. Satellites, Pagers (Total Cost, purchase option, Installation costs).
6. Ask for a copy of your "Lease Agreement" and have your lawyer read it over with you.

Hope this helps.

excellent advice Lawrence, but talk to drivers and any body else in the business you can. Also Accountants. Remember being an owner operator is starting your own business and the Small Business Administration has some good information on that as well. Good Luck.
