Help with the Expediters Hall of Fame Website

I was wanting to know if anyone would like to help with working on the Website I started for the Expediters Hall of Fame. I would like to give the site to EO as a gift but Lawrence has never got back with me as I have sent him a E-mail. I paid for the website but I have been really busy with our business and my time on the project has come to a stop as of right now. I really don't want to let this project stop and would like to get a group of drivers together, one from each carrier to vote on who goes into the Expediters Hall of Fame.

I would like to see members get put in the Expediters Hall of Fame each year at the Expedite Expo. People have offered to donate money to the cause but it's to soon for me to ask people to give to the cause as of yet.

Some input from EO members would be great.

The web page is www.expeditershalloffame.com

When Diane and I started with FedEx Custom Critical in 2003, we heard about people who had been designated "Contractor of the Year" by the carrier. If anyone was so designated after 2003, we don't recall hearing about it.

I think the program was dropped because it caused more resentment than pride. It was a no-win situation for whoever selected the winner because lots of people would think they should have won, or lots of people would think the person they know as a flaming putz should never have been recognized as a contractor of the year. You also have the problem of this year's contractor of the year becoming next year's DUI offender or champion contractor with a competing carrier.

Your intentions are good but the human nature of the masses and the realities of actually administering an Expediter Hall of Fame portend more pain than gain for those involved.

Actually Dave, Get Phil to run it. I'm not being sarcastic but serious. He can do a good job with it.

As for FedEx stopping contractor of the year, there is another side of that story which isn't talked about. It may seem odd but they always seemed to weigh in on the "pride of the fleet" with everything they do, exulting the contractors and making it a more rewarding thing. The odd thing is, they don't seem to follow others in the quest to build relationships like Panther and Landstar does.

I understand where you are coming from, but that is why there would be a group of people to choose Hall Fame Members. Greg I would love to have Phil help if he wanted to. Phil is a great writer and I read his blog when I can. He shares with everyone his trips with his wife that are pretty cool.

This hall of fame will really be difficult.First off,in the real beginning, there were just two actual carriers that represented themselves as expediters. So therefore, the owners of those two companies, need to be in the hall, because they had a vision. Now, in those companies, you had contractors that did their part in promoting their companies, mainly by going out of their way to help promote business, actually hauling loads that sometimes had twice as many miles dead head as loaded. Those are hall of fame people.Next, there were office people that found a need, within the regular expedite business,to branch out in other fields, they need to be put in this hall.you have dispatchers, the ones that are hated, the people that put up with al the driver crap, some of them need to be in the hall.you see what I'm getting at?This will not be an easy chore putting together a real hall of fame.its not a sport, its a business, and if a hall of fame does materialize,it will be the only business I know of that has a hall of fame.

Your 100% right Steve. There can be many parts of a Hall of Fame. Office people, sales people, CEO's, Dispatchers, Drivers and owners. That is why it needs to be a group of people that has more than 15 years of being in the expedite business for each person to vote. I wanted to get Lawrence in on this project, but I'm still waiting on a e-mail back from him.

Thank you for the invitation to be involved in your Expediter Hall of Fame. For the reasons noted above, and with Nightcreachure's good points in mind, I respectfully decline.

Yes there is, I'm going ask some people in the business for 15 years or more if they would like a chance at voting in members. I would like togetmore pictures of trucks from the last 20 years so I could post them on the site. Thank you for your kind words GEO. I'm trying to make this happen.

I know that you already have the domain, but I believe you would have had more support with this project had it been a History of Expediting website. You could still acknowledge people who were instrumentel in the early days. Early trucks, carriers and the day to day life as compared to todays expediter. The term Hall of Fame gives too many naysayers a reason to denounce your idea. Hall of Fames are very tough, even the radio hall of fame has been broke.

Good Luck with it though!

Their is a website for the history of Expediting. It's The History Of Expediting - Home
That is the other site.

Dave, take the history of expediting, change it to the evaluation of expediting, and you can incorporate the whole story of expediting, including a hall of fame.A hall of fame,is about people that went far beyond there normal duties or job title. Its going to be to difficult to single out anyone without stepping on a bunch of toes.
