Most people would ask who you are running for that you are getting tose loads solo....then I would say being out since oct 3rd is not really an exceptionally long time....I stay out 8-10 weeks at a time, or as long as I am making money.

I tink, if this is a problem for you (as you typed), you best find anuther something else to make a living at.

First thing you could do to make reading your post a lot easier is to remove the caps lock. Upper case is difficult to read. Smaller paragraphs also make you information more enjoyable to read,

Only you can know if you are over reacting. Most of us n this business would be happy to have accepted any of the loads offered to you. In expediting, there are no routes that take you home on a consistent schedule. You must either stop by the house when chance brings you that way, or you bite the bullet, take yourself out of service and deadhead to your house. You do have a written agreement with your truck owner, don't you? In it you would be wise to discuss how much time you and the owner agree that the truck will be available for dispatch and how often it would be reasonable for you to have the owners truck sit idle while you take time off.

So, do you think you are over reacting and depriving yourself and your owner of the revenue necessary for each of you to stay solvent? Will you continue to refuse loads and place the owners lease with the carrier in jeopardy? Or will you go out of service when it's time for a break?

The biggest thing you need to look at is do you NEED to go home, (ie doc appt, family thing) or would you just LIKE to go home. There's no set time to go home.. you can stay out days, weeks, or like some here.. months. It all depends on where you live. I always got lucky in that respect, and was home at least every week or two, even if it was under load.

If it's just a want, it's better til you get a run that way, or at least close enough to make it financially feasible. Seems like last year at the expo, I remember the Col. telling me about one of his teams who deadheaded home like 1000 miles once.. that's the stuff that gets expensive.

I always used the rule if I was within a couple hrs of home, (Columbus, OH area) I went home rather than stay in the truck, because I could always get a run out.

Someone who lives in TX, FL or out West tho, would have less chances to do that.

I live in the Jacksonville Fl area and we used to go home when we were within 400 miles from home. Of course that was back when Diesel fuel was $1.25 a gallon. Lots of ppl rip Florida for getting out but for 19.5 years I had no trouble.

Sometimes you just have to sit down and decide where your priorities lye. If you have something you "feel" is a priority, whether it be a wedding, funneral, race your car, pay your rent, ect.. You just have to decide that it's time to quit being a "YES MAN" and please yourself..
