Hi bigjohn,
Welcome to the forums. I'm sure many members would be willing to help, but will need more info.
Experience, vehicle type, O/O or driver for a fleet owner, etc., etc.
The more info you can give the easier it will be for others to offer advice.

Hi Big John: Welcome to the wonderful world of expediting! If you have a cargo van or sprinter you cannot do better than On-Dekk Transportation! Call 1-734-672-7159 and ask for Michele or Rob! Tell them Ron and Deb send 'ya! You'll be glad you did!:D
Here is a list of their working terms:
1. Quick Pay Program- Beleive me, this is true...sometimes they pay within 2 days. No worries, no excuses, just cold-hard money
2. Direct Deposit- This is So convienent for you.
3. Paid deadhead miles-Also true. They use the industry standard of .35 per mile after first 50 miles! They also pay "dry-Run" miles.
4. No forced dispatch-True again, but be very careful with this one...just like every other carrier, you are there to run for them and too many turn-downs will result in being passed over with the good runs and this is fair enough!
5. Home most weekends-Usually because weekends are very slow.
6. 98% No touch freight. True again.
7. 24 hour dispatch. Also true
8. No satellite fees. No need for it. You can comminicate just as efficently with a cell-phone and it is a whole lot cheaper. There really is NO need for a qual-Com...the only people who benefit from a Qual-Com are the people who are selling it! Absolute fact!
9. No up front costs. Again, true.
9. Apply today-drive tomorrow. Also true (if you qualify).
10. Team/Family atmosphere- This is the best part. They treat you with honesty and respect and you don't have to watch your back constantly for sharp knives.
I know I sound like an On-Dekk recruiter but I am not!
Just giving you the facts and only the facts!
Good Luck to you!

What are their van requirements? My wife totalled her van today (everyone is ok. Not her fault) and we already had a backup for her. This means a settlement from the others insurance. I ask because I am thinking obout getting back out on the road. My local gig is great... but local..

Long winded.. in short I am looking at a 04 g3500 extended.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I'm glad your wife was not hurt. I'm not exactly sure about van requirements. It really would be best to call them and ask what they are. I would hate to steer you wrong. Again, ask for Michele or Rob.
Good luck.:)

Welcome Big John

Couple things that will help you now before you get started,

Apply online for the PERKS cards from Petro, Pilot, Flying J, Road Ranger, T/A youll decide on where you like to go, But youll find yourself in parts of the country youll have to use someone else, might as well get the free showers, Meals Points etc...

If you dont have a Smartphone and Headset, Bluetooth device get one, download the TRUCK STOP APPS, CAT SCALE, Navigation/GPS etc...Weather apps all will come in handy,

TRUCKERS ATLAS, Even if you have the phone, GPS theres LOTS of valuable info and GPS is not 100% every day...get the Laminated version.

Id recommend you Join OOIDA, its a great orginization and is very helpful and services and such are affordable, OOIDA Fuel card is a good one thru Fleet One gives you access to Cash advances, ATM usage, etc.

Get online and find the FED EX KINKOS Locations and keep it in your briefcase, its cheaper to send Bills/fax's etc from Fed ex or Mailboxes to go, or any Mail/Shipping service then the truckstop. Also APPS for this.

PERKS CARDS from Restaurants like Subway, Famous Daves etc can save ya a few bucks and get ya a free meal, Same can be said for Motel/Hotel chains, you can go online and join the PERKS clubs, Days Inn, Red Roof have served me well.

ALWAYS keep some reserve CASH in your pocket, tolls pop up or other issues where you need cash, and be sure your ATM card will work in a Nationwide netowrk, Cirrus, Star etc...if your going thru Chicago, upper midwest, NEW YORK then a Pre Pass/ EZ Pass is essential

Always keep some reserve cash in the bank for Breakdowns, Tires etc, Most companies will assist with this and take from your pay if your on a load, keep all reciepts/Copys etc and make copies for yourself. Your going to want a good briefcase with pockets for filing and storing, I have two Notebooks with File sections I use for Logs, Reciepts, Inspection reports, Tolls, Oil/Fuel/Windshield washer fluid, wipers, etc etc etc...

Order in advance from Cargo Control any needed straps, load bars or cargo straps etc, they can be overpriced on the road...

Now I wish you the best on finding companies to work for, JD Clark has been good to me, it really depends on what you want to do, where you want to haul, How much your willing to endure on the road 2-3 weeks etc.....

Most of all Be Safe, Look Twice, and watch out for the other guy
Good Luck to you !!!!

I can't speak personally for all of the companies that you are asking about. I can however attest to the fact that every company up there is a class act. Some of my drivers work for On-Dekk Transportation and Little Truck Solutions. Also, Load One just speaks for itself.

Now that being said I can tell you that my company is a very good company to work for and we treat all of our O/O's like family over here. We're a newer company trying to get established and we work really hard to keep our drivers moving. If you are interested in coming to work fo us, please fill out an online application on our website and someone from our recruiting department will get back with you shortly. Thanks for the inquiry. I hope you find the right company that fits your needs and expectations for your current business model.
