Hi everyone,
I used to post on this site a few years ago. I drove for a few years & this site was pretty helpful to me. I'll be making another post in a minute that can maybe return some of that help I've received as our company is hiring more drivers. In this letter I'd just like to say hi to everyone.
I'm back driving again. I took a lil hike to play poker & start a carpet cleaning business. The poker I can smile about as I got myself ranked in the top 10,000 people out of 350,000 players. I'm a low stakes player so in making $2000 playing mostly $3-5 tournies in the course of 6 months or so, so I feel I did pretty well considering the stakes I played for. I took 2nd place twice in 2000+ people tourneys. The 2nd time I took 2nd I lost to someone who I taught how to play. That was a rush & a half. The flip side is $2000 over 6 months isn't enough to pay the bills, so I guess I didn't do so great afterall.
The carpet cleaning venture is a bit different. I'm still doing it, & will continue to, but the first year was definately tougher than I hoped for & it also didn't pay the bills. The first year I spent all my $$ on equipment. This year I'll spend it on advertising. So hopefully it goes a bit better. I made a ton of mistakes along the way & this year I've got to feel I'll make less of those & a few more wise decisions.
Still, even if it goes well I'm going to keep my driving job, at least part time. For one main reason. I LIKE TO DRIVE. There's just something about driving down the road being outside w/ the windows down (we are getting to that point) that I enjoy. I can't say I enjoy driving in the blizzards, but there's a sense of accomplishment when ya put 300 miles in blizzard weather.
So I am back to doing this. I guess when it comes to driving I'm like a homing pigeon. I'm a local driver more than an expediter. I can't say I missed sitting in my van in some other state, but I def. missed the driving aspect of things. So all in all I'm pretty happy w/ things.
Take care all & hope things are going well for ya,
Danny
