The glow plug is easy to measure with an ohm meter.

You can check the glow plug with an ohm meter before wasting money on a new one also is there a relay that turns it on and off

It took how long to find out you had a dead battery, is it separate from your starting battery?

No it's not, but I might've accidentally hooked it up wrong when I installed it a few weeks ago... OOPS. Anyways I wanted to wait until I was home to actually work on it and see what was wrong with the heater and looking at the error codes, the battery wasn't the problem (except the first 2-3 times I tried to start it). But when I finally got home and started working on it, I tested the battery and it was dead, so I let it charge, connected it again and ALL the error codes just disappeared and the heater started working. So now I connected the battery the correct way and everything seems to be in order. I guess I just didn't want to believe I messed up :p
