HAZMAT Debacle

Thaks for asking that , Waeve . I drppoed my hazmat endorsement several years ago but it seemed to me the endorsement was only good for 2 years . ( I was in FL at that time ) I thought maybe I got the time frame confused with the physical.

In Florida your CDL is good for 4 years,at the time of renewal you must retake the haz/mat test.

What i got from call hazprints te number is that if you already have a hazmat you'll get a letter saying when you have to go and give a fringerprint not just when you renew she said they'll give you tell may 31,2005 to do this but it will be no earlier then march 31,2005

Question, who is the keeper of the prints? Is it state, federal?? If this is homeland security, then why wouldn't they have the prints we provided when we received out "fast" cards, I mean, how many sets of prints do I need to have "on file"??

They might all eventually want their own prints. If there is money to be made at it, they all will be involved.
Maybe I should get my ink pad out

Just curious?
If you have a FAST card do you still have to be re finger printed?The Govt. allready has them on file you would think one time would be enough?I know we are talking Govts. here duplicate everything.

Even in this age of digitized prints, you gotta get new ones for every gov't department or agency that percieves a need for them. My prints are on file in no less than six locations (except Dept of Correction) and I rue the day the Post Office needs them to deliver the mail.

It would be nice if those holding a CHL (concealed handgun license) were automatically approved on this since they've been through the full background check already.

Just a small update from Ohio. I took my CDL Pre-trip/Skills/Road test last Saturday. When I went to get my hard copy licenses, the lady told me that they would give me a copy of my temp CDL, showing my endorsements, and when I get my card/letter from the TSA, all I had to do was bring the card/letter, and the copy of the temp CDL, and they would provide me with a new license with the endorsement, without the need to buy another temp, and retake the hazmat test. All I need to do is pay the $42.00, for the new license, and I'm all set.

Don't know if this is something that is going on everywhere, but it will save me about $25.00.

Just got a letter from TSA stating I am not a security threat and can get HME added to my NJ CDL. The process took 6 weeks from the day I was fingerprinted.
