Haven't been around in a while...

I haven't been on here much lately and I'd say I have some pretty good excuses. There's been a bit of a shakeup with the company, mainly that I am once again having to wear multiple hats and I'm running myself ragged. Anyway, it all started, or rather came to a head when we had an unusual number of loads booked with bad brokers and through chargebacks and just plain not getting paid I found myself out over $20000 in short order, just when I was starting to get some reserves built up. Long story short, a few trucks left.

Then we found out that one of our dispatchers was working for another carrier at the same time, so that arrangement had to end, and resulted in him working for them and no longer with us. The conflict of interest was causing issues and drivers were complaining to me about sitting places where there was plenty of freight. Most of the loads that I didn't get paid on or got charged back were, coincidentally or not, booked by that person.

So revenue dropped pretty drastically there for a bit and our factoring company that we had just switched to started getting difficult and delaying payments to us because the numbers were dropping and they were acting worried.

So now we've switched back to our previous factor and things are going smoother over there, but now we're back to me doing dispatch and everything else as well, and we're back to a smaller number of trucks, and building back again hoping to be back where we were within a year or two. Any rumors you might have heard regarding our demise are just that, rumors. There are a few floating around, no doubt started by the former dispatcher who is no longer with us.

Then to just really cap off a bad stretch, my mother, who had worked with me just about since I started this company, passed away a couple weeks ago. Trying to deal with that and still get the company back on track has me pretty much wiped out.

Anyway, that's where I've been and why I've not been around much.

Sounds like life decided to kick you in the beans while you were down. It's tough to have people that work for you end up costing you so much but I guess that's all part of finding the right team to surround yourself with. Have you come up with a plan to move forward with office personnel?

So Sorry Charles for your loss...
As one business owner to another, This hick-up in your business will make you stronger, it may not seem like it right now, but believe me it will make you a better business person... We had an accountant person applying for and receiving credit cards in our business name and took over $45k from us before we realized what they were doing...
Remember, the "Big Man Upstairs" only gives us what we can handle and you Charles, must be a very strong person!!!
