Pat McManus wrote that we have become dumber as our technology becomes smarter. He may have a point. Used to be, in order to do a job like this you had to know how to use maps, and in a business like ours you sometimes had to ask for directions--- man-card or no--. Today, you just push a few buttons on a screen and your machine tells you which way to turn. You don't even have to know where Tennessee is, much less be able to find Shelbyville on a map.
So-- our machines become smarter and we become dumber.
