Hanging In There

These are the tough times your mother told you about. Those of us who "Hang in there" now will be the sucessful O/O's in the future. My wife and I are leased to FEDEX CC with an "E" unit. We have tried some others in the past, but have come back to our preferred "HOME" because the grass definitly was not greener, and everyone is affected by the economic slowdown, so moving around now doesn't create any better conditions. We saved our money in the good times and we were able to buy a new tractor this year and we can still weather the slowdown. We love this business and intend to continue ti8ll we can retire in 7/8 more years. We fully expect an economic recovery that will benefit us all in the near future! Until then, "HANG IN THERE" and Good Luck Everyone!;-)

Just have to say that your message was one of the best that I've read lately. Couldn't agree more, and would like to encourage all expediters to hang in there by taking good care of their vehicles, whatever type they are. You can do so much to ensure your success and keep your overhead costs down if you will keep a sharp eye on the maintenance of your vehicle, especially the preventive maintenance quality of pretrips and post trip inspections. I have saved alot of downtime and money buy finding little problems before they become big ones or breakdowns.
Your message is encouraging. There are many ways to "hang in there" and I hope we hear some ideas from different O/Os.

I can't agree more! This is a time that everyone needs to stay strong and keep a positive attitude. Aside from the lack of money and runs I think this is a great time to spend that little bit of extra time with our families. I have had a little extra time to do that and it sure makes the hard times just that much easier. I have had a chance to see my 2 year old a little more.
