There is a "story" about how the land in Antarctica is rising as the ice melts. Strange, but I remembered a science fiction story, from the '60's, about this same subject. SO, I dug through my library, not even remembering the title, and found the book.
"The Day the Oceans Overflowed" by Charles Fountenay
The book was about how the earth's governments had decided to melt the ice caps to make more room for earth's expanding population and increase food production. An accident occurred and the melting took place in a single, massive, explosion. The "rebound", as the ice melted was greater than expected, and blah blah blah.
I also find it interesting when some of the "ideas" of the older science fiction show up, sometimes in part, sometimes in total, in real life. The "future" in this book, took place in 1997.
