Called state motor carrier to check what was the max load on truck after talking to the officer was told to look at the tires for maxloading
add them together on my tires it was 3042 times 4 = 12,168. he had told me i would be suprised by the number and i was call him back told him the number said that was correct but if i was to haul more them 10,000 i would have to run log book but was told again thati was correct so why put 8,500 gvw?

You talked to an idiot. The maximum you may ever legally run is the amount on the door tab, 8500 you said. The tire load rating only tells you what the tires can safely do. It means nothing to the overall of the van. If the door tab said 15500 you couldn't say I'll exceed the limits of the tires because something else says more can be done. It works the same in both directions.

I agree, it's amazing the idiots you can round up at the hwy dept. Must of been one of those non-essential employees to come up with that.

LOL..wow.. common sense sayes that an AXLE rated at 4300 lbs can't support more then that on a regular basis no matter that there might be 2 tires on it rated as 4032 lbs each...Axle can carry 4300 lbs..but the tires can together support 8064 lbs...right, that works....

LOL and that is just the rear....LOL...idoits are all over the place..you really don't have to look too far...

But what if one were to install air shocks, helioconic coil springs, anti-gravitational dilithium crystalline mineral coated leaf springs and 20 ply multi-directional tires?

And a Wiley Coyote-endorsed jet pack from ACME. Don't forget that.

Go ahead, make fun, but if NObama wins in 2012 Acme may wind up the only employer left shipping by 2016.

cj, did you read the newbiwes FAQ? this question has been asked hundreds of times. i am going out on a limb and guessing this is a cv. load the van with you, your stuff and a full tank of fuel. get the van weighed. the difference between the max load GVRW and thew weight on the ticket is what you can carry. now go read the newbies FAQ and learn to use the advanced search.
