But know this........there are Members here that have a Deep Deep Belief that if you coddled these guys.......listened to their problems......fed them a meal......Paid for a Manicure to help them feel better about themselves.......that they will suddenly turn their lives around, repent their sins, and live a Law Abiding Life from now until Eternity........

Nobody ever said not to punish criminals, and punish severely. The problem we have here is other members feel DEATH!!! is the answer to everything. Is that the type of rule of law we want to live under? I sure don't!
How would YOU stop a thief? Fixing the system will take decades. The cops can't do it. He is in your house now, how do would YOU stop him, right now, this minute?
That's not a fair comparison. The thief in the OP was not in somebodys home, he was breaking into trailers. The police should have been called after he was subdued, instead he was beaten to death.
Mob rule is just wrong no matter how it is sugar coated.

MORE DEATH Penalties......Punishments........Justice.....NOW.......would seriously slow down ALL CRIMES for our Future Generations.
With the System we have in Play Now.....there is no real incentive to keep Criminals (Thieves - Rapists - Drug Dealers - Etc) from NOT doing the Crimes they so Love doing........Most of 'em get a slap on the fannie.......clothed....fed....housed for a while.....probably BETTER than what they have available on the street........and all that does is refresh their Kindred Soul to get back out doing what they do best......and that is Steal - Rape - Steal - Be a Dredge to Society....and so on.
I say lets enact a DEATH PENALTY for Everything.........Even DWI and Stealing Bubble Gum from the local 7 / 11.........just to see how QUICK Petty / Major Criminals turn their lives around for the better.......
My Bet......it'd be the BEST Social Experiment this Country ever had. Couldn't be no worse than the Social Experiment this Current Jackweed in Office is Putting America through right now......now could it???

Police were called................and his cause of Death HAS NOT been determined Yet. Again......Jumping to Conclusions over a 1/2 story the MSM has put out........
This was NOT Mob Rule......this was a Group of Employees PROTECTING their Employers Best Interest so that they could also keep their Livelihood Going.....Their Income coming in.....and so on.............

You still don't get it. If Texas' death penalty were an example of your real flawed logic, you'd have fewer executions and even fewer on death row. Loads of Texas jackwagons believe their state's threat of death serves as some shining example to the world on psychological deterrents. Your thinking is flawed, much the same as your state's system.
Maybe some in this thread should consider "an eye for an eye". No way in Hades does the punishment fit the crime here. Also, no way the four's claims of being in defense of a weapon threat passes a test of being reasonable.

Protecting their employer's best interests?
By exposing the employer to the strong possibility of a lawsuit, and themselves to arrest & imprisonment? Not seeing how that would help anything...
It wasn't necessary to apprehend the thief - it's not their job to do that. They did it because they wanted to kick some azz, and it looked like a good time: 4 against 1 [not likely to get hurt much], and the 1 is engaging in illegal behavior, so not likely to be charged with assault, right?
Adrenaline can make your brain go to sleep: call the cops, file an insurance claim, that's what they're there for.
It would be different if they had been trying to prevent an injury, rather than cause some, but 'stuff' isn't worth the risks involved.

It still would be interesting to know how many in here would STOP the crime that was in progress. Police response is slow, at best. In many areas the crime will have be completed before they arrive. In Detroit, and I be many other big cities, there is a pretty good chance there were cops in on it.
You work at this place, it it being robbed, do you stop it? IF so how?
We know what some WON'T do, what would you DO? Nothing? It would be interesting to know. Does an employee owe stopping a crime to his employer? Not speaking in a legal sense, more like do they have a moral responsibility?

Did you miss the part about taking reasonable precautions? I've been in some of the worst parts of the worst cities in the lower 48, and I don't hesitate to get out of the truck in the middle of the night [in a well lighted truckstop, or WalMart] I just don't let it be a major big deal, because that's giving the bad guys more control than I am willing to let them have.
As far as embezzlement, what I had in mind is theft from taxpayers, ie: fraud. I could care less if an exec steals from his company, but when the company is cheating taxpayers, I take that personally.
You had a stranger crawling under your truck and you chose to do nothing, not even get out and see WTH was going on. I'd do more than that. But that's just me.
