Exploitation yeap, abuse not even close.

Not sure why you you would say " not even close". Can you explain?

The basic definition of "abuse" means "incorrect or improper use of".
As quoted in post#5, one characteristic of psychological abuse is "exploitation" which you just agreed to.

When it comes to the effects of potential legislation on future acts, no one is really "knowledgeable", or there wouldn't be half as many laws with unintended consequences as there are.

Wouldn't you agree that most laws are passed for political reasons vs knowledge based conclusions?

There are people with knowledge in the form of raw data and statistics.
There is a long history regarding the effects of various gun restriction laws worldwide; therefore, the result can be predictable.
Much like healthcare were there are successful and unsuccessful models previously attempted in other countries yet we chose to throw some crap together as if we need to reinvent the wheel.

The models only slightly apply. Comparisons between different cultures, countries, seldom work. Mind sets, histories, and outlook on government is vastly different in different nations.

For millions in the U.S. gun restrictions, the health care bill, are representative of a government that is attempting to take away freedoms they believe are their birthright. That is not an attitude that is prevalent world wide.

Our problems cannot be solved with others solutions and will never be solved by oppression.

Did I say it can't?

Just speaking in general my friend. I just believe in reality it is much closer than you may. I believe that it is always lurking just below the surface waiting for a chance to surface. The more it is expected, watched for and guarded against, the less likely it can take hold.

To me attempting to claim that a kid is being abused in this instance is exploitation just as much by those who don't like it.. To scream someone is abusing their kid in this instance is a serious unfounded and unproven charge. I am not even remotely on the gun control side I simply feel this is a complete stretch.

Exploitation can be a form of abuse in its most extreme fom, it is not a gaurentee of abuse.

I'm sorry. The statement was made that children are used as pawns and from there it can progress to using children as weapons. You questioned it's accuracy. It was pointed out correctly that it has happened in the past. No stipulation was made that it had to have happened in this country. It has happened in the past. It could happen again.

My apologies for expecting common sense to factor in. Forgot where I was for a minute there.

Common sense is common only to each individuals experience. Your experience and mine are drastically different. My common sense tells me it could happen here, or anywhere, at any time. My experience of facing that type of evil daily for years formed my common sense. We come from the same country but lived in vastly different worlds. I envy yours, I wish I had been able to avoid mine.

Common sense did factor in. You just didn't want common sense in this instance, you wanted an incorrect answer to the question posed.
