Grocries

OK, question here.

Van Drivers and D units please if you answer this indicate which you drive.

How much do you spend on Grocries, prior to your first run and if you stay out long enough on the road how much to restock.

This is the one thing I enjoy doing is going to Grocery Stores. Why one might ask? No where in the world is their more fresh selection, low prices, and so much to choose from. I often think how lucky I am to live in such a great place, and how others from anywhere else in the world would envy what we take for granted.

I enjoy the idea of seeing how long I will enjoy eating what I buy without having throw much out. I am getting much better at this and I buy fresh and canned foods. I am very pickey about fresh bread and other dated items ask questions to the employees when I can. Stores closer to Metropolitan, Yuppie districts seem to have more selection than small town older stores, but you can't beat an old store with wooden floors and the smells of baked and rotisserie items.

I spend very little on groceries. (that I can trace) My wife will cook normal sized meals while I'm gone and freeze whats left. When I leave I take as many as will fit into my DC cooler and generally they will last for the first week out and a little more. I'll leave on a monday and work through the weekend to the following friday if things work out. In that time I'll spend $100.00 or less on personal things such as meals, snacks and showers.

I drive a Sprinter now but it's equipped the same as my FL70 was. The only thing that costs more is showers because I can only earn about half of them for free as I burn far less fuel. Still, I can usually earn at least half price on all showers at the J. They seem to be the most van friendly.
