Greenville SC a good place to sit or should I move into Charlotte or Atlanta?

I'm looking to get to Tx or CA. Which city has more Sprinter loads heading that way? I'm 100 miles to Charlotte and 150 to Atlanta, enough time to deadhead to both cities and hopefully grab a weekend load that delivers on Monday. My carrier just bids off load boards. I would also consider Chicago if I could get a buck a mile. Also I was thinking Greensboro is a decent place to sit because you're equal distance to Raleigh and Charlotte. Any ideas? It's do or die tomorrow! :)

Wow, you're trying to eat that whole goose in one bite, aren't you?

I agree with the others, Greenville is good.

Good area for me. I think I usually sit no more than about 4-5 daylight hours there before being booked. Find a Lowe's. Watch a movie.
It'll happen.

I don't know if your in a C/V or S/T but Greenville is a really good area. You can feed off of Atlanta and Charlotte. Good place to be.

I met recently a FXCC Driver who deadheads to Greenville when he delivers south of there.Atlanta, Jax Fl, etc. He says is a mixed bag but Greenville never fails:)

Sounds like a good spot, thanks for all the feedback so far... unfortunately I just bid 3 jobs to Laredo at .75 a mile and didn't get ANY of them? Two were on NE suburbs of Atlanta and one was in SC near Charlotte. I think it is time to get on with a better carrier that doesn't use load boards!! What is going on?! I'm in sprinter van and still sitting :)

Many posted loads end up going on a plane or LTL.
If air cargo is $1000 for a Monday guarantee and expedite is, for example, $1800...
The math gets easy.
On the flip side, if a Sprinter or cube is loaded and headed there with a skid and has room for a couple more I can see them knocking the bottom out of a bid and doubling up.

Not to be rude but think about it if your crazy enough to bid .75 cents running a sprinter there is always someone a notch crazier.

Admittedly, I took 2 loads to Tucson & Nogales about 19 months ago.
The second got in my van for $.8588 per loaded mile.
The first was a lot more!!

Methinks you need to either learn from what these people are telling you, or find another group to "brag" about your .75 bids to Laredoland.

Never run cheap to Laredo, or Florida....I agree. However, I have run for a much lesser rate; when it's late Friday afternoon and anything over a certain bid amount didn't work, all day long.

It's either run for less on a weekend load, figure your deadhead....or find yourself sitting in that same zone come Monday.

Weekends are slow most places. Also, unless your carrier has vans stacked up like logs in the area, and you are way down on his load board, then you should have got loaded within 2 days since upstate SC has loads going all over the place. Just saying, but now is the weekend. Hope you got a load out already.

That is what happens when you run for a large company like I used to run for Panther making .97 and never had to go under contract rate. And I also got regular bonus where I could make even more then that. I went to a smaller carrier cause I got tired of forced dispatch. I don't have a acceptance rating and can choose any state where I want to go. With Panther you cannot choose where you want to go enless you go on home time. I have no QC fees so I guess you take the bad with the good but I'm needing to sign on with a better carrier. Was thinking Jung Express because they cover the cargo insurance and have no QC fees. I suppose there is a carrier out there for me. Fusion said they would take me on if I upgraded to the larger sprinter. Kinda in transition still until I upgrade to the 158 2006 sprinter. Trust me I never bid .75 but I need to get to CA by 4/14 by a court date and waiting in Texas for a load west sure beats Chicago this time of year! Gunna wait it out here this weekend and hope Monday or Tuesday I can roll. Weather is looking good on Monday for the overnight lows.

People get way to concerned about qc fees, what matters is profit at the end of the quarter. Lots of people profit more after
QC fees than many without those fees. I know of someone who refuses to pay those fees so he spends 700.00 a month on insurance I pay 120.00 for insurance add 120.00 for the QC who's ahead?

I agree... I pay $100 for insurance and zero for QC fees. I'd rather pay the QC fees and be working for a real carrier that can get me real paying loads. I'm still researching the right one that doesn't have forced dispatch or some percentage program where you don't know what you're making before you accept load. Who has the lowest QC fees? If your insurance and QC fees are $240 that is $60 less then the rate panther charges $75 a week/$300 a month. I need lower QC fees and non forced dispatch, anyone have any good ideas or advice on carrier to choose?

I need a carrier that has a in house insurance and QC package like Panther
