Stopped in and visited with a man who was Ex-ASA as myself. I did not know him when I was in, met him online. He and his wife were very nice and easy to talk with. Glenn and I sat around telling "war" stories" about our ASA days. It was wonderful to speak to someone who spoke the same language as I do. Even better was not being doubted or called a liar when I told some of my stories. He was on duty, at a different site, and remembered MANY of the stories that many in the "general public" would never believe. It was refreshing to say the least.
He is an author of several books and a screen play, all based on our old "Spy Days" and is working on two more novels, one of which is being looked at for a "spy movie". He was kind enough to give me an autographed copy of one of his books and a screen play.
We hope to get some more extended time with them, maybe even get in a little fishing one day.
I learned an interesting piece of history that I did not know while I was there. Johnny Cash did the exact same job that I did while he was in the military. I knew that Chuck Norris was in a similar military job but I had NO idea that Johnny Cash was.
