I like quotes I know some fund them cheesy but I do get something from them. Came across this one today. Feel free to add any you like.

Great idea for a thread, Xiggi.

I keep a notepad file for quotes I run across that I like. One that comes to mind right off is actually a poem, but works well as a quote:

An all time fav quote from Mark Twain:

"If you always tell the truth, you never have to remember anything..."

I told my grandfather this quote one time. He liked it so much he put it on the blackboard at the back of his garage so he would see it every day. Occasionally, as he scooted around the nose of his Oldsmobile, he'd brush against the blackboard and erase some of the quote with a shoulder or his back and would have to rewrite it. Over time the quote become quite rearranged and didn't quite make the same sense anymore.

Sort of like me trying to quote a contemporary Buddhist principle that says "There are only two things to remember in life. 1. Don't sweat the small stuff. 2. It's ALL small stuff.

When I tried to quote that to a friend I said, all profound-like, "Only two things you need to remember. Don't sweat the small stuff, and there IS no small stuff." I saw the guy's puzzled look and furrowed brow, then thought about what I'd just said and went "Oh dang, wait, that's not right!"

That's a really good one, from the man who never met another man he didn't like. Cool museum about Will Rogers in Claremore OK: Will Rogers Memorial Museum. Will Rogers is a terrific source for memorable quotes.

Cheesy? Not at all, it's the plain truth: it's easy to criticize the efforts of another, particularly if you know your own efforts can't be criticized in return, because you didn't make any.
My own favorite quote is Mark Twain: "Man is the only animal that blushes - or needs to."

I read a similar quote from a cardiologist in an article about dealing with stress.

Rule 1. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Rule 2. It's all small stuff.

Rule 3. If you can't fight and you can't flee, then flow.
