What do you mean by GPS system? A stand alone or a laptop based. I don't know of any stand alone that has all that info, could be wrong on that. There are a few laptop based that do. Who knows what will be legal in the future. We will have to see what the rulling on laptops is. Of course, I don't see any difference between looking at a laptop screen as oppossed to a GPS screen. In either case, don't lose your trucking atlas. ALWAYS check your routes against it. Most software has multiple errors. The GPS system (the satilites themselfs) can go down. They can be encripted by D.O.D. (it's thier toys, they can do what they want with them). You can lose signals etc. I once had a customer try to return a VERY high end GPS system as defective. It was tied into his auto-pilot on his boat. He set it and went down below deck to party. He did not understand that GPS works on straight lines. He wanted to go from point A to point B. Only problem was there was an island in the way, he hit the island going about 25MPH. What a idiot. He had no idea how to plot a course and above all, should have been behind the wheel no mater what system he had or courses plotted. Layoutshooter
