Gowdy takes MSM to the woodshed

I'm wondering how we went from talking about actual issues to that of "a fan of," "fawning worshipers," and whether they have an ability or an inability to perceive stuff. .

Oh, wait. Yep. Poster not post. Thaaat's how it happened.

Uh uh - it happened because Pilgrim linked the Kabul incident to the Plame incident, in an effort to blame the MSM for not reporting the outrage of Benghazi enough.

Making a statement like that evinces an inability to differentiate legitimate oversight with pure partisan political posturing ...

LOL ... well, personally - aside from the fact that Retard Central (aka The House of Representatives) probably won't be getting anything of beneficial consequence done for the American people and the nation - I think it's great ... since there's just no telling what this preening capon might eventually do ... ;)

Rooster and the "BENGHAZI!!!! Boondoggle" will undoubtedly provide much entertaining fodder for Stewart, Colbert, SNL and the late night talk shows to illustrate the lunacy and hypocrisy of the Wing-nut Brigades:

A tired and overused line from some who don't want investigations to bare fruit, and provide real answers for the 'American people'. They can do both.
It's enumerated for them to provide oversight.
'Securing' MANPADS, (among other things) and then 'unsecuring' them to Syrian rebels and into the hands of Al Qaeda . This shouldn't be investigated? Yes or no?

What exactly kinda nekkid fruit are we talkin' here ?

Actually, Congressional "oversight" is not specifically enumerated in the Constitution - it is however implied:

Congressional oversight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

'Securing' MANPADS, (among other things) and then 'unsecuring' them to Syrian rebels and into the hands of Al Qaeda. This shouldn't be investigated? Yes or no?
Well, as I'm sure know you know, I am a fan of government transparency ... so yes, I think it should be investigated ...

However, having said that, I'm not much of a fan of politicization of the process by elected partisan officials - since it leads to a perversion and corruption of the process.

This, of course, leaves Rooster and his Wing-nut Clown Posse pretty much out of the picture, AFAIC.

Not really a fan of politicizing either, but don't believe some should 'throw the baby out with the bath water '. Meaning shutting down ALL investigations of anything because there is SOME political grandstanding going on .
The FRUIT being the truth. Nothing more and nothing less.

Note to Big Al: RLENT was correct to declare the question of his cred as an expedite driver irrelevant, but before you assume the refusal to answer means anything else, you should know that he is in fact, a respected O/O with a well known carrier, and has been for many years.
Not that it matters, of course.

Note Cheri : I was just curious because it would appear by the long posts that there would be few hours left for driving. The only assumption here is yours. I was going to suggest some sort of credits for his or her posts because they are so involved. :)

Right ... ;)

I suggest you review the Jon Stewart clip I provided earlier, if you believe that there is "shutting down ALL investigations of anything" going on ...

Either that, or give Grand Theft Auto's office a holler ... he ought to be able to dial ya in ...

The FRUIT being the truth. Nothing more and nothing less.
Unfortunately, in this case, the FRUIT is the one charged with conducting the investigation.

BTW: the media isn't ignoring the 'oops!' regarding the CIA guy in Kabul, but let's be real here: outing Plame wasn't an accident, it was revenge, and that's definitely more newsworthy, IMO. We can figure out the difference for ourselves, really.
Revenge - really?? Apparently you and so many others figured that out all by yourselves with a little help from the list of Democrat talking points - an agenda in no way related to the facts.
Armitage admits leaking Plame's identity

POSTED: 2:39 a.m. EDT, September 8, 2006

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage acknowledged Thursday that he was the source who first revealed the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame to syndicated columnist Robert Novak back in 2003, touching off a federal investigation.

Armitage told the CBS Evening News that he did so inadvertently.

"I feel terrible," Armitage said. "Every day, I think, I let down the president. I let down the secretary of state. I let down my department, my family, and I also let down Mr. and Mrs. Wilson."

In a column published on July 14, 2003, Novak, citing two senior administration officials, noted that Plame was a CIA operative. The column was primarily about Plame's husband, Joe Wilson, a former career diplomat and critic of the intelligence underlying the invasion of Iraq...

Pilgrim, some can't let the inconvenient facts get in the way . They would rather rely on falsehoods. To borrow another sentence from a former poster. 'It fits the agenda'. Hehe.

Revenge - really??
Karl Rove - the second and confirming source for Novak, in a phone call to Chris Matthews:

Shortly after the publication of Novak's article, Rove also reportedly called Chris Matthews and told him off the record that "Wilson's wife is fair game."

Which would seem to indicate intent ...

Unfortunately, the only way to really get there is selective ignorance: by focusing solely on Armitage's actions and completely ignoring Rove's confirmation ...

Nice try but: FAIL ...

It's actually kinda similar to selectively ignoring Plame's actual covert status ... ;)

Well, in light of selective ignorance, you might want to consider long and hard who that would actually apply to ... ;)

Note that there are zero reporters seen or heard in that video. It's entirely possible that Gowdy and the people you see in the video frame are the only people in that room, other than the producers of the video, the conservative advocacy group The Western Center for Journalism.
Yes it was entirely possible that one could draw the conclusion that the room MIGHT HAVE BEEN EMPTY, however it was not the case. The Press Conference was from Oct 30th of last year. This is the whole press conference . The first clip is Gowdy. The second is the rest of it. Lengthy clip, but there were questions from people in the room.
(Before someone criticizes the website, I only used it because it has the whole press conference.)

That's because the stage was set in that manner by the "reporter" at Western Journalism. As Pilgrim noted, it's unlikely that this video will get much airtime on the MSM, because none of them were there to film it in the first place. The headline of "It Took Just 3 Minutes for Trey Gowdy To Shame An Entire Room Of Journalists Into Silence" asks you to believe the entire room was filled with journalists, and not only that, but they are dead silent because he somehow shamed them into their muteness with his hard-hitting and insightful questions that he and/or Western Journalism claims have been unanswered. The little videoplay certainly convinced the OP, as well as many others that these questions have never been answered, and that they are somehow critical. The first question that people seem to be all atwitter about is, "Can you tell me WHY Ambassador Chris Stevens was in Benghazi the night he was killed?" Well, yeah, he was the ambassador to Libya and the consulate in Benghazi is where his office was.

Not according to the headline of the piece, nor the author of the piece, the esteemed "journalist" Daniel Noe. He was speaking to a room full of them.
See my previous post. Looks like Daniel Noe was correct after all .

It is also entirely possible, quite likely, in fact, that I didn't note the possibility of an empty room because it was a conclusion drawn or because I believe that is the case . It a brought up to illustrate not only how facts can be twisted and misrepresented, but also to illustrate just how willing people are to believe anything at face value if it agrees with their beliefs.

Now that you've seen the entire press conference, would you characterize his comments as stunning an entire room filled with journalists into silence, or that they are even shamed by his comments?

I thought you brought up the possibility of an empty room. I get your last point however. It can't be determined for certain.

Your first sentence says 'I didn't note the possibility of an empty room'. I think you meant DID instead. If that is what you intended then I understand.

BTW - regarding Richard Armitage and his "inadvertent leak":

Robert Novak - while he hasn't necessarily completely sung - he has publicly disputed certain of Armitage's characterizations of their conversations, claiming that Armitage has misrepresented them.

Armitage's claim of "inadvertent leak" is, of course, entirely self-serving.

Some folks - who apparently would have been in a position to know - have claimed that Armitage was "associated with" the Phoenix_Program in 'Nam ... basically a terrorism program ... so he's kinda got "spook" - and all the moral depravity that comes with it - writ all over him. He also was a signatory on the neocon PNAC letter to Clinton.

Rove told the grand jury that three days later, he had a phone conversation with Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper and, in an effort to discredit some of Wilson's allegations, informally told Cooper that he believed Wilson's wife worked for the CIA, though he never used her name.

"He never used her name" - talking to an investigative journalist, lol. [This was prior to the published article that did use her name.] Rove admits to trying to 'discredit' the man they sent to get the truth for them, because it wasn't the 'truth' they wanted.
Yes, Pilgrim: revenge. They made him pay for it, in the quickest way available to them at the time. Rove, particularly, is hardly known to be a nice guy, when things don't go his way.
If the current 'oops' can be found to be other than a simple human error, then it will get the same coverage, I hope.

Yeah, I knew the Allen West article might be a jagged pill to swallow for some. The 'god sent' sentence probably had some perked right up with frothing at the mouth. Here's another though from Seymour Hersh, that was referred to in the previous video . Seymour Hersh, less jagged of a pill, but still a bitter pill for those who want to SWEEP THIS UNDER A RUG.
Something about a 'rat line':
Seymour Hersh Links Turkey to Benghazi, Syria and Sarin | Foreign Policy Journal

If the article on Allen West is a 'jagged pill', it would be for those who support this nutjob - it didn't hurt me a bit. [I've never had a bad time, laughing.]
And yes, the line about "God sent" was hilarious: he doesn't believe in coincidences, so therefore, it must have been God?
Allen West makes the newest 'political commentator' Stacy Dash look qualified, lol.
And they both make the right wing look a few Shriners short of a clown car.
