Good talk radio

Hey gang,

I have to imagine that most everybody in the trucking profession spends quite a bit of time listening to the radio, and I have to believe that many have went to Satellite. I picked up my Sirius a couple months ago and it is awesome. If anybody out there wants a recommendation for some darn good, though provoking entertainment, give Michael Savage a listen from 7:00pm - 10:00pm on Sirius Talk Right. I used to be a huge fan of El Rushbo, but I got to be honest, I have had enough. I like to tune in ocassionally, but I just lost interest. Hannity is another good one, but I get so tired of the constant butt kissing that goes on, it made me sick! In all honesty, I like to consider myself Conservative, but I always like to hear another view point. What I cant stand is programming that does nothing but bash our President for the sole purpose of discrediting him and his policies. Michael Savage is some real no holds barred action. An extremely intelligent person who offers undisputable arguments backed by fact! Just my opinion, but give him a listen if you have not done so already.

To bad you didn't get a XM, Savage and hannity are there. But you also get Glenn Beck (He is a riot) Laura Ingraham and the open road network AKA the trucking bozo radio network. It has Bill Mack, The trucking bozo (dale sommers) Steve Sommers, Dave Nemo (he'll talk expediting once in a while) and some other names I can't remember. I really like Steve Sommers, he does overnight, beats the art bell type talk on coast to coast.

If you tune over from right to patriot you get Laura Ingraham. She's excellent also. I have both XM and Sirius and listen to the old time radio a lot but also to some of the talk programs.

Laura is great. Man how I would love to be married to a fiery beautiful girl like that. But, one has to wonder about that brain. Could there be a such thing as too much? Lol. I also heard a quick advertisement on Sirius that G. Gordon Liddy will be on soon. That guy has some stories! The few times I have been able to find him on a radio station, I was glued to it. Another good one would be Bruce Williams. He is a wealth of information.

The "G"man(Gordon Liddy) will be on both XM an Sirus, according to informed sources. Also Dr.Laura will be on XM for those who like her drivel.
I used to tape the "G"man off a local station, but the the station went all sports.I will be looking forward to hearing him again.I remember very well him responding to a caller,That he would never go to satelite radio, because there are no commercials. We will see if he eats his words.
You can Mount the TERK mouse antenna on alum roof with SCOTCH exterior grade double stick tape,as I did.Has been working perfectly since Nov 01.We added a Roady 2 recently for the sleeper. Now we can listen to different programing at the same time.I mounted the small antenna insisde a cabinent just beneath the fiberglass roof.It too preforms flawlessly

Regarding mounting of the antenna, I placed mine right at the front edge of the cab roof, and then attached the adhesive rubber strip which holds down the first 8 inches. I then brought it straight back, and brought it down about 1 inch on the back side and used a square of duct tape; I then ran it along the back edge (keeping it just down below the roof so as not to catch wind) and brought it right down to the top of the drivers door molding. Tucked it under the molding, and stuck it under the panelling and trim. From there, just route it under whatever you can to get it to the radio. I used to just have it sitting on the dash, and could get every channel just fine. Hope this helps.

guess my class 7 is getting old. It has a metal roof :) However, my ford van is a challange. The hightop is plastic and the hood is plastic. Since i am to cheap to get a second cradle for my sky-fi I stuck a metal plate down with epoxy on the roof to mount the XM antenna to.

The XM is on a mount attached to the mirror arm but the Sirius is just stuck on the metal roof. Both wires are run in through the passenger side door molding.

Let me add a couple names to the mix that some might not be aware of.

Alan Colmes: of the Hannity and Colmes (Fox) TV program. I have listened on and off to him before he got the TV job, always found him to be courteous to callers, and always had respect for his listeners by not talking down to them. He drives straight down the "left side of the road."

Glen Haege; Home repair, remodeling, anything about the home genre.

Tammy Bruce: Talks about multitudinous subjects with great authority. What I would call a "progressive" commentator. Beware of her "driving", she crosses over from left side of the road to the right side depending on what the topic is.

MICHAEL MEDVED: My personal favorite commentator. Comments on many issues and topics. Drives down the right of center on a four-laner, but not the extreme right lane or over there on the shoulder with Savage, Reagan, Liddy, et al.

I listened to talk radio when I was doing landscaping for the past 25 years, I've heard just about all of em. I listened to Limbaugh for a couple years off and on back in the early 90's. Hannity, he's OK. Savage, you couldn't pay me enough to listen to him again. I heard him several times during a year's span and turned the radio off shortly after listening for a few minutes each time. Liddy? I got so sick of hearing about his girlie pinup calendar of scantily clad women and their weapons...arrrrgh!...and listening to him read me the newspapers was excruciatingly painful. G-Man...take that Washington 'Bleep' newspaper and stick <SNIP! -- Decency edit> You listeners of Liddy know what I mean! <snicker> O'Reilly's Radio Factor? He's MUCH better on TV. Mario Cuomo...I tried to listen...I forced myself...I really, really tried to listen, I really did!
I will close now with my thoughts about Laura Ingraham...oh my...need I say more?

All I see are all rightie talk shows mentioned try listening to Ed Shultz the fastest growing talk show host in the country. He tells it like it is the truth that is unlike all the others mentioned most of all the chief lemming druggie limbum or whatever his name is and his partner in lies slant head hannity.

I totally agree Finn777. Unfortunately, you will find that most truck drivers are rightys. The biggest shame being that they don't know which side of the isle butters their bread (i.e., rep. supported legislation to turn more interstates throughout the country into toll roads. And, Bush supported legislation that allows carriers to retain more fuel surcharge). I could go on and on, but don't worry I won't. Although, it's really no different than 50% of the rest of the country that continue to vote against their best interest.

I urge you rightys out there to give some of Finn777's suggestions the benefit of the doubt. Try something a little different. Then compare hanedi/rush/savage blah, blah, blah. They may be amusing, but we are talking about what effects our daily lifes in this country. It's serious business. I'm confident that you will see the difference in honest, responsible political reporting and made up garbage and propaganda. It's hard enough to make a living out here without supporting an agenda that defeats your own!

AMEN!Sister Kitty.......This coming from me, a "YELLOW-DOG DEMOCRAT!" Did'nt you right-leaning drivers out there ever wonder why gas prices went up sharply after "the great usurper"took office or why EXXON just passed GE as the largest company in the world or why HALLIBURTON got all those military contracts?I'm as conservative as a strong Southern Dem can be but it's very disappointing to see half of this country's voters be fooled by all the neo-cons BS. Enough politics.
Best Wishes to All,lap2

A newbie looking forward to getting on the road!

Its got nothing to do with the election I come from a farming community where nearly all the people are republicans when I went home last week the ones that know me and know my affiliations said that the thought that they would never tell me I was right about this president "He has sold us down the river they said after point blank lying on tv about giving them subsidies for their crops" that was the first thing to go in the budget.Sooner or later it will all come out and you guys will be eating crow.If you are comfortable with a drug addict informing you of what happens then good for you but I know that the roads are falling to pieces fuel is going up road taxes are going up and sooner or later the bubble is gonna burst you know what limpbum or whatever you call him could tell you that that village idiot from texas dropped his pants and pooped on the white house lawn "But guess what fellow dittoheads it was Vanilla Ice cream" and you guys would believe it.I listen to both sides before i form a point of view and there have been times my party affiliation goes out the door something the other side is incapable of ok enough said.be careful out there folks:+

Ok ok... this was a thread about talk radio, not about politics and which side butters your perverbial bread. Let's start another thread in the Lounge, and I'll commence to showing you "libs" the error of your ways. :7

I agree we shouldn't be posting on this thread. There will be a new thread in the lounge in response to your post T-Hawk. Think I'll call it; Churchill quote used out of context.
