God banned from VA cemetery

She's probably another appointment by Barack Hussein Obama.

After writing that sentence, I decided to do some checking; sure enough....

"For approximately 10 years before joining the National Cemetery Administration, Ocasio held various positions in the VA West Side Medical Center in Chicago, Ill....
"Beginning her federal career with the Federal Aviation Administration in the Air Traffic Division in 1984, Ocasio is a native of Chicago."

But wait!! There's more (emphasis mine):
Arleen Ocasio seems to be setting herself up for a second rebuke from a federal judge. Ocasio has been, since 2009, the director of the Houston National Cemetery, which, at 419 acres, is the second-largest cemetery administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, exceeded in size only by Arlington. Houston National has somewhere in the neighborhood of 70,000 men and women interred there, including several Medal of Honor winners and the congressman who worked to have the cemetery built and recognized as a national one. It is, like all such places, a scene of both sorrow and celebration, of patriotism -- and prayer.
Recently, however, Ocasio, the cemetery's Obama-appointed director, has been credibly accused of engaging in a pattern of censorship directed against private religious expression. The chapel has allegedly been closed, its cross and Bible removed, and it is now said to be used as a "meeting space" when it is unlocked at all. The carillon in the 75-foot bell tower no longer tolls on a regular basis. And members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the National Memorial Ladies, attending upon the bereaved families and friends at veterans' funerals, say they have been required to have their prayers pre-approved by Ocasio's office, and have been told that the words "God" and "Jesus" are not to be used by them if they wish to continue their volunteer service at the cemetery.

Secularism run amok - CBS News
At this point I began to wonder what her attitude is toward muslims - but it really doesn't matter.

Well this may be an issue with an appointee but the problem is insignificant in comparison to what is happening in Arlington where I understand as of last month, it is still a mess and no one has been fired for it.

putting people like this in charge of something that is so dear to so many is just one more reason why Obama is a one term kinda guy!!:D

Yes that can be one way of looking at things... but ...I don't think God can be banned from anywhere ... and beside that the Arlington mess was really under Bush's watch so I would think that any president can be blamed for their appointees as if it was something bad.

The question I have is where is the outrage of what has happened in Arlington and why is there a lack of concern with it compared to say ... this?

My mother is buried in Houston National Cemetery and my father will be one day. It will be a very bad day for that person if she is in charge when that time comes. She better plan on her policies being ignored and being on vacation or at least her weekly day off.

I wonder if she will ban the gun salute! This just disgusts me to no end. I had plans on ending up there, but not now unless things change.

Well I can tell you that it is better than sitting in someone else grave site while her body was cremated by mistake and the one who was supposed to be cremated is sitting in the cooler on the bottom of a pile of bodies without any ID at all.

If you are concern with combat vets and the respect they deserve, the mess in Arlington should be the first priority to fight to fix then the others will be easier.

My ex father in law is buried there. I attended the funeral in the late 80s. He was a wounded WWII POW that was shot down over Germany. That chapel, while simple, is a spectacular setting for the family. For his funeral, it was packed with standing room only in late August. Many of those that attended were very old. Would have been very unhealthy for them to have the service at the grave site.

Hard to believe 1 person can impact so many thousands of lives without any consultation or due process....1 person wipes out God.....schoolboards wipe out God....

NO OVM, you have it backwards ...

God can't be banned from anywhere - period.

No one person can do it, Stalin tried but failed.

The school boards didn't ban God, the supreme court ruled that children can't practice their religion in the class room as individuals while they also said children have rights that are equal to adults - kind of an anomaly.

Ok call it censorship then....

If all the services must be preapproved thru her office first...
