"A seven-year-old girl in Colorado is recovering from bubonic plague, the illness that caused the Black Death and wiped out up to 60% of Europe's population in the 14th century.

Sierra Jane Downing became ill after trying to bury a dead squirrel while on a camping trip with her family in Colorado."

Most of them.

Not I, unless it was a family pet. They were not allowed to even touch dead, wild animals that they found. That went double during the summer. During hunting season the risk is far lower as most sick animals are killed off by a heavy frost and the bodies are normally gone long before the season started.

Those you speak of must not be very good parents, or not very smart ones.
