Have any of you been successful signing on with a comapny in a 2000 0r 2001 model year truck? I see some really nice older trucks for sale, but can they go to work with you company, or the one you wish to sign on with. Many of the nicer equipped older trucks i see on the net, and here on EO, have been for sale for months.

That is if your going to a carrier, and your going to sign ,most want trucks 5 years or newer from the Manufactured date Once you are signed on and you continue to run with them and your truck is well maintained, Not lots of break downs then you can continue to use it.So I hope that helps you out.

In the past I have ordered new completely loaded trucks that were such a POS that it spent more time in the shop than on the road.A warranty doesnt do squat if it is always in the shop not making money. The payment will always be there.I have had better luck with good used trucks that were completely gone over.

I think companies want drivers to have the nice trucks with the big payments so we'll take every load offered out of desperation so we can make the payment.

I have a freind with a 1995 Ford L-8000 that has over 1.6 million on it, looks just as good as the day it was new, and has been featured in expedite now magazine several times in the past.I would put that truck up against any new truck anytime.

Do you know which company you want to lease on with? If you do know which company you want to get on with, you may want to try and find a truck for sale that has that company markings, qualcom, permits, etc still on the truck
