Getting started

Hi Folks, just joined the forum and have read quite a bit.....
I have driven straight trucks for about 20 years, mostly non-cdl, am now going to get my CDL-B back, and have been doing some checking into about getting into expediting,I have already made up my mind that I want to stay out of Canada and NY city (BTDT)
Would appreciate any suggestions as to what companies to check into.
Can't do the O/O thing, don't have that good of credit and no down payment......

Sancman,

I don't want to ruin your day, but putting those kind of restrictions on where you run will not look good to a fleet owner.

A fleet owner will be looking for a go getter that will make him as much revenue as possible with his equipment.

The freedom that comes with being an owner operator is generally paid for in advance by an aggressive work ethic.

Scott put it very well. Your good strengths are 20 years driving a straight truck.

This business is very different than regular TT hope you picked up on that, out for long periods at a time and your gona find yourself wondering when will that phone ring or did dispatch forget I am still alive out here.

Keep asking specific questions, we all will help you best we can.
