Hi everyone! Got a quick question. I see these sprinter vans that has a unit attached to the back swing door. It's a generator/ac/heat unit. (or so I'm told) What I would like to know is the name of it please.

I know what your referring to. I saw one that was mounted to the back of a ProMaster door one time. Held a quiet Honda generator. Talked to the guy, he built it using heavy duty shelf mounts reinforced them with welding, and bolted tubing together to hold the generator. The ProMaster doors have heavy duty hinges to support the weight.

I had an Onan Quiet 2800 that mounted in the spare tire well under my van. It powered a Coleman 13500 roof air/heat. It drew fuel from the van fuel tank. No trips out into the horrible weather every 3-4 hours to refuel the generator and FAR more difficult for anyone to steal. The only downside was needing to change the oil every 100 hours of use. More expensive but much more convenient.

The unit I am referring to is a all in one unit. The ac/heat is built into the generator and it's mounted on the back door. Not separate units.

Nope there is no generator with that option that I could find.....
Now do you really want your heating/ac unit to be right next to your generator that's making fumes for you to breathe in?
You could mount the generator on the front bumper with a hitch to keep it out of the way of the back doors and get a roof mounted ac and a espar heater.....

That's called "the wheel." No need to try and reinvent one. ;)

There are a couple of company's that make a genset that will fit in spare tire company on a sprinter van. Also if you look on line make a solar power genset with battery.
