I would check with the sleeper suppliers. Bentz, ICT, ARI, etc.. You will always want to be able to get service. Maybe an RV style from Coleman. Service is available at all RV Dealers. The other thing to think about is if the unit will stand alone or be tied into your truck cooling. I've had both sytems with good results. It's more of a personal preference. Good luck and keep us posted how it works out. MOney wise plan on 7000.00 to get a decent unit. Sounds like a lot of money, but at 2.20 a gallon you should be able to recovery money in just over a year, and look at the good your doing for the envirement!

I have a ProHeat on order with Bentz. It is supposed to arrive 10/24. Everything I've read indicates it is the best one available. Good luck with your choice and be sure to contact Bentz before you finalize anything. Their number is 800-664-2865. Tell them Leo Bricker referred you.

myself like proheat , they have 140 service center nation wide
back their product up, until i got my new sprinter was a field rep
for over 7 year's for them, and check up on service center to see how they were doing and all places would give high marks for service

no matter what gen set you go with this is what will happen

say on layover in woodhaven mi on a weekend and happen to bethere
on monday you will have use only 3 gal's of fuel instead of 72 gal's
and kept 72 hours off of your engine

for every 250 hour you use genset you have saved one oil change
on fl60 i had 6000 hour's on engine of those only 227 hour's idle
engine in 4 year's and had about 5,000 hour's on genset
if all those hour had been on the engine would have had over 11,000
that would have made less money on trade in

Proheat is supposed to be a real good unit. I believe it is for heat only. What do you do for A/C with this unit? I quess you would need something seperate for that. We use a genset with a roof air unit.

No, ProHeat is heat and a/c as well as block heater, separate battery system, shore power, etc.. It is a total solution package.

My last truck had an AUX. What a piece of junk!!!! I have lost all respect for AlumiBunk and their choice of generators.

My new truck from A. Blair is a 2005 M2 with a ProHeat. It's a dream. Heat. A/C. Battery charging and all the rest. Great controls in the sleeper. 1/5 gal of diesel an hour. Compare that to running the truck engine, eh?

I will tell you this, though. I'm in Laredo where it hit 102 today. And will for the next 2 days, according to weather.com. I finally had to start the truck engine to cool the sleeper. Just for a couple of hours from 4 PM to 6 PM. Then, I went back to the Proheat and I'm a little chilly right now.

Of course, I don't expect to experience 2 more days of 102 degree heat. I expect to be running back up north where I will be running the heat on the Proheat.

Proheat is a great unit. It works well for trucks with 72" sleeper or less. If sleeper is larger, it will not keep up in any extreme climates. In that case, go with a generator and a roof air unit like coleman,duo-therm or carrier

To fully research your product choice regarding service availability, find a driver that has a product in use now and ask if you can borrow his (her) product ID numbers (serial number, model number, whatever). Then go to the manufacturer's web site and pick a half dozen service locations at random. Make up a straightforward problem (generator won't start, will heat but won't cool, seems to be smoking more than normal), and call the service providers with your situation. Note how you are treated. Could you get through after hours? How soon could they get you in? Were they willing to make your problem their own?

It might be wise to talk with some RV drivers too. They are heating/cooling/powering a lot more space and things than most trucks require. What do they use and why? Where do they go for service? What kind of luck have they had with their products of choice?

Are you using the guy down here in FL or did you go with something else. The guy I am refering to is in Leesburg. He makes about the same thing truckgen does. I think he did Glen's

As previously stated, I'll not confirm or deny any information about our truck until we take delivery of it. Even at this late date in the process, vendors are not cast in stone and product choices are not finalized. They won't be finalized until the products are actually on the truck. Things change over the months a custom truck is built.

I was looking for what your thoughts were and what you have been shopping. That is not a reflection of your actual purchase. I think everyone pretty much knows about your truck so which generators you are considering isn't going to matter much. I am aware that Keith Bentz uses several different ones so that shouldn't make a big difference either. If you are researching them, it may help someone going through that process now....not two or three months from now.
