I just found out that the Sprinter is available with a gas engine. I don't want to go diesel and I will be doing local runs. What kind of mpg is the gas sprinter getting, anyone run one?
Rob, I don't recall the source, but I have read that the Sprinter gas engine requires a higher octane than regular. I don't know the MPG but the 30 cents or so per gallon may offset any advertised savings.
if i wre you i would go with the diesel engine, and the 2006 sprinter is by far the best sprinter of all, the gas engines are the chrysler 3.5 liter and i wouldnt even bother with that !
Yep, but the diesel (2007+) is the 3.0 found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and E320 Bluetec. It's a sweet little engine- the limited time (500 miles or so) I've been behind the wheel of one has caused me to fall in love.
My wife's 2005 Chrysler Pacifica has the 3.5L engine in it. No complaints. The owners manual recommends 89 octane but in small print says it will run on 87-89 octane. This vehicle is all wheel drive and weighs nearly 4600 lbs. We get 20 mpg around town and 24 on the highway.
