Hello, I was curious as to the difference in gas mileage for the Dodge Sprinter 3500 with a 12 ft cargo box, dual rear wheels, than the standard van body with the single rear wheels? A local dealer as a 2004 Sprinter 3500 with 12,000 miles for $24,900 plus tax, and we were looking at purchasing this. I currently have a 2002 E350 14 ft High Cube Van but the gas mileage is horrible at about 8 up to 10 miles per gallon. Any thoughts regarding these Sprinters with the Cube Body would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a Chevy cube van and I also get 8-10mpg. I too would like to know what a Sprinter cube would get.

I don't have a Sprinter so I can only guess however I read posts all the time saying 22mpg and as high as 25mpg on a regular Sprinter. If we take a conservative estimate of 20mpg for a regular Sprinter and figure the cube cuts 20% off the mpg that's a drop of 4mpg so the cube would get 16mpg. As I said, I don't have one so I'm just guessing but I wouldn't think the mpg would drop more than 20% because of the cube.

An owner/operator from my company has a 2004 Sprinter cube 14' box and he gets 16 mpg. One thing to look at is mid year 2004 they changed the gvwr on these from 9990 to 10,200 which pushes it over the threshold for logging and other FMCSA safety standards.
Thanks alot DaimlerChrysler!!!
