Here's one, again not covered by our professional watch dogs. Been following since the accident and it's getting steadily worse over there. Spent fuel rods are laying like toothpicks in the bottom of reactor 4 and cannot be extracted. Cores have breached containment by some accounts, and millions of gallons of contaminated cooling water is being dumped into the Pacific.

And we must not kid ourselves.....the Gulf well continues to be a problem and one cannot "cap" that much pressure without it trying to release somewhere else.

Gulf contaminated and sea floor damaged. Pacific being contaminated as we speak.

It's probably the story coming right up following the Miley Cyrus piece. Bet on it.

The Gulf of Mexico is ALWAYS being polluted by oil. There is natural oil leaks to the equivalent of two Exxon Valdez spills every year. There is SO much oil under there, under such high pressure, it just comes out on it's own.

For this reason, they serve as natural laboratories where researchers can learn how marine organisms adapt over generations of chemical exposure. Seeps illustrate how dramatically animal and plant population levels can change with exposure to ocean petroleum"."

It does not apply to the nuke plant. It is related to the problem in the Gulf. The Gulf can "handle" a lot of oil. It is very much a part of it's system. It has handled bigger spills in the past. We still have to be careful, no need to dump any in on our own.

There is a LOT of oil there, we will find a way to get it. After all, most wells never have a problem. We will likely find a way to exploit that one that blew out one day. We know it produces.

Understand your convinced all is OK in the gulf, and gushers followed by subsequent leaks are normal, or run parallel to daily occurrence. Won't argue those points.

Question though? Your research shows; what happens when you mix Corexit with crude oil?

I never said all is OK in the Gulf, I said it can handle far more oil than many believe. Leaks in the Gulf, not talking about that blown out well, are normal, natural and plentiful.

The marshes seemed to handle it pretty well, it had little impact on wintering waterfowl that year or since.

Was it good? No way. Could it have been avoided? Most likely. Will it happen again? Yep, as long as we need oil. Will the Gulf recover? Yep. Just as the area around Oil City and Titusville PA did. As did the streams and rivers in the area.

I don't know what corexit is or what happens when it mixes with crude. It is likely not good if I had to guess. If I had to guess I would say it would be worse than the crude by itself.

The nuke mess in Japan is far more troubling.
