Fuel Surcharge & Carrier Obligation

Well my carrier is as hinest as they come, again that is why alot of his contractors will except a load without even knowing what it pays... And turnover is what it is and for some companies it is worse then others...i believe you left one company because what they told you wasn't what it turned out to be as to what kind of "cheap freight' you would be hauling...

As for the carrier keeping all of the money they wish, well they will keep as much as they can, i am sure you know that some carriers what is paid for a load is negotible...if they can cover it for a minimum, you certainly don't think they will pay more just because they can...the start low and go up from there if they have to...so yea, they will keep as much as possible...and i also know for a fact that some dispatchers bonus are based on how much of the revenus for each load they can retain and not have to payout..

and yea, most here that have been doing this pretty much know that not all companies pay 100% of the FSC to the one buying the fuel...as for becoming and expert..i am pretty fast learner, but i still have a bunch to learn, as i do learn something every day...and no you certainly have the prerogative to protest and or disagree with just about anything or everything i have to say...:)

Oh and we all know what "opinions' are like also....:)

Just a WAG, but you think the carriers who see contractors as 'revenue streams' are the ones with sky high turnover? [Which they blame on lazy and irresponsible o/os of course].
i believe you left one company because what they told you wasn't what it turned out to be as to what kind of "cheap freight' you would be hauling...
Exactly my point! I don't lie to them, if they lie to me, I'm gone.

Only the ones who want to keep the responsible and reliable o/os - not those who want to keep the money, and complain about what the turnover costs them.

Setting up coworkers to compete is a good strategy in some scenarios, but not between dispatch and the driver - there needs to be mutual respect and trust, or the stress is unacceptable and reasonable people will leave that environment.

Well, DUH....But I wasn't disagreeing with just what you said, but with 'the way it is'. Businesses have every right to make a profit, but if they lie and cheat to maximize it, they need to hear that it's not acceptable. Because if it is, it's ok for their contractors to lie and cheat too, right?
