Fuel Prices

Hey everyone,

I've been listening, reading, and watching about our recent fuel prices. I have started a webpage that will hopefully grow into soemthing good in the near future.

Lower The Fuel Cost

The goal of the site is to inform people and bring them together to show that we are tired of these out of reach prices.

Please take the time to leave an email with the info requested while visiting the page. I'm collecting names to add to the roster so that I may prove to local and federal government that we are ALL tired, and want our voices heard.

Thanks in advance,

CHop

Good luck, I mean that.

But a bit of advice from someone who knows - if you want anything to be of value, you got to make sure that registered voters appear on any peitition or roster. It is not an impossible thing to do but it is difficult.

Oh just a wee bit of a suggestion, drop the flash and use something that loads really fast. It is a pet peeve of mine to see flash used if a site is directed to a low bandwidth audience (on the road connections) and knowing if you are getting a lot of hits, your bandwidth will be used up in loading swf files. Been there , done that.

Otherwise, I like the layout.

Porkchop: (don't know why, but I love the username), I applaud your desire to DO something about the problem of high fuel costs. But (you knew there was gonna be a 'but', right?) I think the government is well aware of the high cost of fuel, and our frustration with it, so I'm not sure what you hope to accomplish here. I'd suggest including a request for the government to do something to alleviate the burden, such as reducing the many taxes levied on each gallon of fuel - it would be more helpful than just restating what everyone already knows The key to getting a grievance redressed is suggesting an acceptable resolution.
The government can't (or won't) do anything to change the supply/demand equation, or the market speculation that drives prices up, so it's smart to request something they can (and should, IMO) do.

Thank you guys for responding. I have a few different avenues that I'm looking at with this site. I'm a trucker myself and not html savy, but I think I'm doing enough that its a decent page. I think maybe I'll focus on it being more of a information type page. I have been getting BAD reviews with trying to doing something with a roster . Seems my state rep as already denied like 2 or 3 that was sent to him. * that is alleged, by word of mouth...I'm stilling trying to find out if thats true or not*.

Keep the advice coming.

The reason that the state reps does not care about them is what I said many time, they only care about people in their districts who are registered voters.

Those petition websites that are up (2care and others) are actually worthless when it comes to transmitting issues to elected officials. Some states don't allow electronic signatures on petitions and recalls, while others do. I would like to see an adoption of something like 21 CFR Part 11 Electronic Records and Electronic Signatures FDA rule where it legitimizes the petition and recall process, but I hope to see pigs fly too.

I can't give away how it is done with on one legitimate website, it really is a secret but I can say it is a pain in the a** to actaully get it done right.

I don't believe anyone will get as far asking for price reductions and tax reductions as they will by asking for federal legislation that says 100% of fsc must be passed along to the person paying for the fuel with documentation proving it. That costs them nothing out of the government coffers and lets them claim a victory whereas the other plans take money out of their pocket either directly in fuel tax revenue or indirectly in income taxes due to lower revenues.

Leo, you are the man with a plan. Noone has asked why the company takes a percentage of this fuel surcharge???? Maybe this needs to be a post.

A petition is a good thing. It keeps Congress with a job. Also, this is a better way of getting something done than stopping or blocking traffic. This just pees people off. Keep it going you are on the right track.

our fsc art FECC use be a percentage of the gross to the customer, that was changed,to a cpm for all dispatched miles,as there are many customers on contract that dont pay the surcharges. At that point in time, there were many discussions how we should be getting 100% of the fsc,and up til then we were. Now frankly,I was one of those that was going to quit,i promissed to stick it out for a month, and see if the change hurt or helped, well you see I'm still here.I know the customer is still charged the same as before,a percentage, but im getting as much or sometimes more than i did,and yes im happy with the plan. What i have done is slow my truck down, the tractor fsc is based on 6 mpg,i try to stay at 7,and can do this by controling my speed, and weight i haul.a 44000 lb discount wont work.cost to much to run, hard to get that 6 mpg ,never get the 7.You know, this surcharge isnt suppose to pay for the fuel, its to off set the high price that it has become. For years,FECC would give me a fsc on my load, and i could run and actually not have to pay for the fuel, that really wasnt the way a fsc was suppose to work,it was great while it lasted.
