I´d like to hear how the new HOS rules are affecting the dispacth side of things. Have you folks had to make any changes? And, if so, what are they. How are load assignments affected? Singles and teams? You are the front line with the shippers. It´s been a couple of weeks, so please post your findings so far.

It sucks, For instance if you have a short run of 3 or 4 hours then your idle for 2-3 hours ,if you log it your screwed because you can't split off time , it's 10 hours in sleeper or 8 in sleeper & 2 off duty.
So what do you do?
Tear out page for that day, don't log short run! restart that day with your 2nd run!!!!!!!
I got a run today from __________ to _________ 734 miles, recruiter said coustomer would wait longer for driver to be legal instead of direct. Pick up at 10:00 am in IN. drop off the next day @ 8:00 am. thats 22 hours. drive for 11 hours , travel 575-625 miles for example you still have to take 10 hours off, thats 21 hours, you've still got 100-150 miles to go with 1 hour left, your still not legal.
What is a driver to do, say no-I don't think so!!!!!!
this is a real run and I 4 1 will take it.
My truck is straight-I expedite frieght}>

From a dispatch standpoint - companies are having to be more creative in cross docking and working with customers to buy more time or build in breaks to avoid scenarios like the one mentioned above by Lineboss.
If the DOT sees this going on, nobody will win. We all have to become more creative to play the hand that is dealt to us by our Government.
but that still means we should try to colour inside the lines.- Scott
