Friday the 13th?

You have to chalk this up to it being Friday the 13th or maybe our crystal ball is broken again. Some days you just can't win for losing.

We have been in Denver since Tuesday. Only had ONE good load offer which we did not get, went to a truck in front of us as it should. We took a short load for today, just to make SOME money, going broke just sitting. That, of course, took us off the board until we run that load. It is giving us a less than 75.

Got a GOOD load offer today for Monday. We are 16 miles from the pickup, we are qualified for the load, we did NOT get that load because we are on this "little load". Man, I HATE IT when that happens!!

Does ANYONE know a REALLY good crystal ball repair shop? We REALLY need to get ours fixed.

Now, do we stay here after this load, assuming a Denver layover, or DH on our own dime to more fertile areas? Keep in mind the best next fertile area for us is 600 miles away? I really wish that crystal ball was working! :(

Sorry Layout but FedEx has a crap load of work out of Denver, they are not idle at all ... just no cross over stuff for CC I guess.

I don't know Greg, we have always done well out of here. Some of our best weeks were in the Denver area. Just not this time. We took the load that brought us here based on two things. It payed very well and we have always had a lot of good loads when in this area. It HAS to be the crystal ball thing.

How's Lincoln, NE doin for you guys? Same thing happened to me out there in Wyoming so I just moved over to Lincoln and got a load out. Really had no choice since it was cheaper for me to move than to stay and spend my $ at an overpriced truckstop.

Lincoln is a toss up. If I move it will be to Kansas City. It will cost about $150 to make that move. I will have to see what happens. Not working crystal ball to help this time. :(

I have never cared to spend much time in Denver. Just more inbound freight then outbound, out of there. But I do know of a White Glove load out of there Saturday evening going to Las Vegas, did you get that offer?
We have plenty of freight moving out here on the west coast. I am not into going back east right now and turned down loads to Muskogee,Ok, Maumelle,Ar and Newtown,Pa yesterday.

I don't belive in luck or crystal balls but do believe in probabilities. Like you, Diane and I would have taken the load you did that got you to Denver. If arriving there we found it to be slow, we would not wait more than a day or two before moving to Kansas City, a center where the probability of getting a good load is better than Denver.

If we were in your shoes today, a Friday, we'd wait one more day in Denver and if nothing popped, we'd use the remainder of the weekend to DH to KC.

It makes no sense, not even a little bit, that an actual human couldn't step in and over ride the all mighty computer so you could get that load. We always talk about companies warts, and I guess some could live with that, but it would only take a couple of those and I'd be history.

That's ok, it got worse. That short load we were on today, that was to deliver today at 1700, turned into a dry run. In the mean time we lost ANOTHER shot at a run that paid almost $4000. That load did NOT pickup until Monday either. SO, no run today, a small amount of dry run pay and no other runs for now. What a great week this was. 1 load. :(

Tell you one thing, sure will think about these short runs. They often hurt more than help.

OK, THIS PROVES it is Friday the 13th, or maybe I ran over a black cat or something.

We took another load, paid good, picking up in WY headed for CA. We left the truck stop, went 15 miles and THAT load went away too!!! ANOTHER DRY RUN!! OH MY!! I am afraid to ask what is going to happen next.

Joe, looks like you and another White Glove, less then 75 are still in the Denver express center? This morning when I posted there were only 2 D's (both surface) in Denver.
It sure does sound like Fri the 13th is working against you. The white glove to Vegas was dispatched at 1:07 local time today and then a White Glove to NY was dispatched at 12:58 picking up Monday. Is that the one you missed?
If ya get out west maybe our paths will cross again. Havn't seen ya since our picnics at the Petro in Atlanta last year on our CDC locks, Take Care

Yep, there are two of us with less than 75. We SHOULD be on top with the dry run status. I never was offered the Vegas run and the NY was one of two that we did NOT get.

Still sitting here at the TA, out in front now. Lost my PRIMO spot in back with the second dry run. Where are you at? How has it been going? Speaking of CDC locks, we are on one now.

Last time we were in Denver we foolishly sat there for 5 days before taking a relocate to Elk Grove.
We are now in Sacramento with 36 hours of dwell time.
We turned down 2 loads to Las Vegas that paid well. We just don't trust getting out of Vegas.
We are thinking about doing an authorized DH to Ontario tomorrow. There are only 2 C's and 1 D checked in there.

Well, I was born on Friday the 13th. I was probably born sometime between 1:00 and 1:30 PM, but the doctor clearly had a killer sense of humor, as my time of birth is stated at 1:13PM, which on a 24-hour clock is, well, you know.

Thirteen is my lucky number.

I was going to take Friday off, but was offered a round trip to Toronto, so I took it. Got to the consignee at 4:15 after all the traffic, and no one was there. Found out everyone left at 3! A guy who owns a cartage company in the same building was nice enough to offload my truck. However, I'm DHing back to MI with nothing to show for it.

It's not Friday the 13th, it's this darn truck that's bad luck!

Vegas have been pretty good lately. LA is too.
