Freight Matching Services are they SPAM ?

I have been to only 3 freight matching websites so this is actually a very simple observation, and only used the Free Demo version.

It seems like the potetntial is there for ONLY the website to be profitable at an average of $35.00 per/month.

1. Do these services work ?

2. If you use these services, do you look at them before you roll and line -up your next Load ?

It depends on what type of vehicle you have. With a longer box, you could fit two or more LTL loads. These can pay anywhere from .25/mi for a skid or two, to 1.00 or more for 10 skids. If you have an expedite load that doesn't pick up for several hours, you could add some good money by picking up an LTL that goes to the same place. You have to be careful not to screw your expedite load tho, as LTL brokers sometimes try to squeeze more on than they tell you.

I use one when I need to move in a certain direction, primarily to get home for special events. Most of the loads pay expenses plus meal money and that's about it. Once in a while one pays a good rate. I'm fortunate in that my company only takes 15% of the tariff when I run an outside load. Some take as much as 32% which makes most of the loadboard loads money losers. It's still better than deadheading though. I've been able to double a couple of times and that turns it into pretty good money as already mentioned. They have their place at times.
