Does anyone out there know how the large trucking companies charge for their services? Do they charge by the mile or by the pound? I know household goods movers charge by the pound and distance according to a rate book (learned this by being in the military and moving so often). I've tried to locate a copy of this rate book without success so far. Will keep looking to see if I can come up with any answers. Maybe it would be advantageous for truckers to charge by pound per mile. Let me know what you think.
