Freigh. M2 check engine light when idle

I just bought 2004 M2 with 290.000 miles on it. Truck runs perfect but i notice when ideling at about 600 rpm check engine light comes on and then right after i raise rpm and let it idle at about 1000 rpm check engine light goes off. I know thay didnt change oil and its dirty. My queation is could it be only oil change or aomething else?

If your oils that dirty Id try that first, if your losing oil pressure due to extremely dirty, fuel laden oil...etc....does that truck have an EGR valave, thats another issue Ive encountered, if its losing coolant very slowly and you dont see it leaking on the ground, its being burned down the exhaust pipe and the ENGINE light can come on.....Id get new filters and oil in it ASAP...

I have an 05 m2 and it sometimes does the same thing. I've noticed that with mine at least it has to do with the cruise control, if the check engine light is on i can't use my idler but usually it goes out once i start moving the truck.

I've got an 05 m2 with 780000 milage never changes chk.engine comes on when I hit a hill and it downshifts blinks 3 to 4 times goes out been doing this for 4 yrs ive had it looked at and all the cat men tell me without checking every sensor in truck it would be hard to find.

Black tape is your friend , I use Velcro so when I get inspected my radio remote goes over that stupid light and mr. dot won't see it lit, I already got a ticket for it in tonawanda ny

I have a 2007 M2 and the Idiot light is on and off, I have had it checked, theyve reversed the wiring, replaced a sensor, its still comes on, Best thing is to have it read via the computer, No Faults, No Foul....Idiot lights....then you can have a mechanic write you a short note stating nothing is wrong if you run afoul of the Over zealous DOT man.....My EGR valve was replaced, its still blinks in when it wants to....Ghosts in the machine.....Have it checked via the computer ....
