Freezer full

Just got back from up north. A freezer that was once void of venison is now full again. All is right with the world.

Now it's back to planning a duck hunt or two, starting Wed weather permitting. Ducks Unlimited called us wanting us to do a duck hunt for an official of the Oregon Fish and Wildlife department who is in town looking at Michigan's wetlands programs. It seems that this guy has heard about layout hunting and was looking for a hunt. We will do our best to get him out. Anything for the cause.

Nope, nothing special. We dragged it out, when straight to the butcher. It was 60, no time for fooling around. Small buck, will be tender. The loins should be beyond belief!

We hunt in a VERY bad area of the state. No place I would hunt if my Dad was not around. We hunt there because he likes it. The area is known for bovine TB in the deer. They have been culling off the herd in the area for years, to stop the spread. It will be a long time before that part of the state is good again.

I seem to get one most years, I have a "productive" spot. 3 for the past 3 years.
