Ford "sprinter"??

Last Friday on I-94 in Detroit I saw what I thought was a Sprinter in front of mee. I noticed that it looked a little different as it didn't have the center brake light on top. As it was exiting the freeway, I was close enough to see the blue Ford oval on the right rear door. The name on the left door started with a "T" and was short like Triton. The styling was very close to a Sprinter. Does anybody have any info on this van?

Ford also has a European full size cargo van - that looks "European". I understand that they will be introducing that here in North America to compete with the Sprinter.

That might be interesting if there is any information available. Do you know how long it has been in production in Europe. Sprinter will tighten up their act once some competition is on the corner. It will be interesting to see what happens. This should be of interest to alot of folks.

Right on davekc, the parts are still outta sight and that's if you can find them,[sprinter] service is another issue.I think if Ford or Gm has a van you can stand up in along with the diesel,it will help bring down the price of the Sprinter or at least get some after market companys selling those Benz parts a little cheaper.

Based on appearance, I think it will give the Sprinter a run for the money. I am sure it will be simular in price, and maybe cheaper.
Thanks for the picture!

looks good to me. Looks like it comes in 4 or six wheel like the sprinter and has the same rear door configuration. My guess: cost more than a sprinter but have more options.

one of those deciding factors might be the maintenance history on it.
Since it is from Europe, I will have to do some checking to see how that info can be obtained. Is there a consumer reports in German?
I was thinking maybe cheaper, but with limited options on Sprinter I think Terry may have a point on the price tag.

If it has the ford [International] drivetrain it will be worth the extra money,i am a bit concerned about the frame,if it's unibody like the sprinter the 5.4 or 6.0 diesel my twist it like a pretzel.I hope there not using a Jaguar engine in it over there, cause you'll have the same trouble getting parts and service as the [Benz] sprinter.

A "B" unit with attitude! Now that gets my vote. As far as dealer networks go I think Ford is tops. Now all we need is one of the sleeper companys to make it plush and cozy!

I beleive this van is British and not German. Isn't Ford Europe based in England?

Ford owns Jaguar which is British,i think that's were the powertrain comes from, unless it's part Volvo is involved or there's a International plant over there.

Thanks bigjimhp,i don't think Jag makes a diesel and if that van is for sale in Europe i bet it's a diesel.I hope it's the 6.0,i just don't see them importing the drivetrain over there.

I found a website for this van at www.ford-van.com . I think this is in Englang. The Jumbo Transit will haul up to 5 europallets, what size is a europallet? The largest engine listed was a 2.4 liter turbo diesel.
