What do you mean by no forced dispatch?
Forced dispatch is when a company offers you a trip and if you refuse it for whatever reason,some type of retribution is done to you.The worst senario would be that you would be fired or if you were an employee or if you are an independent contractor your contract would be terminated.
The IRS looks at this situation as a form of control over a contractors performance and considers that as one of the factors if a so called independent contractor is independent or an employee.Kinda of a grey area. Some companies have tried to get around this rule by not forcing you to take trips but if you refuse several trips they will put you out of service.This again is a form of control and for the most part it has gone away. Other companies give certain rewards for a high load acceptance rate and high availability rate.
One interestering thing is that the companies will track your refusal rates but not remember the times you have made sacrifices and left home in the middle of an ice storm to rescue a shihpment etc.

Always remember you are the only one that counts! you are only good
as your last load! NO MATTER what company you work for, after each
refusal the load they offer you will be worst than the one before!

I sad no to a load...and the company fired me....how come is that?
Can you give some more dtails. Were you a company employee driver or a contractor. If you are a contractor your agreement should say something about forced dispatch.Also what type of load was it?Would you be required to run ilegal??Have you refused lots of trips,if this is so you may have a bad reputation with the company.

I was a contractor... I've got a cargo van...they don't care about you or your truck...if you refuse a load you don't get nothing for the next 2 days...I was driving overloaded many times...they change my van capacity in the contract...was 3500 they put 4000...I said no few times and now I'm looking for a job....

This is way off subject, it needs moved now (if it's still alive) . I gotta put my two cents in. Three weeks ago I was in Illinois and a load from London to Norcross came up. (my co. and the shipper-been there a lot, and it pays damn good- knew I wanted to take my son to Orlando when school let out) The dispatcher had it picked up and waiting for me at the terminal. The shipper specified that I take it and the co. made sure that I did, and I was out of service for over a week and had loads waiting when I got back. Sure they have their shortcomings in some areas, but that kind of relationship makes up for it. I guess I am just used to doing what it takes to get stuff done, at least I am appreciated now.

ASAP was pretty bad about forcing drivers to take loads...but the worst me and my better half had to deal with was A Blair.....they are notorious for forcing drivers to take loads, also overload their trucks...and they DON'T treat their drivers with respect.....they treat you like you don't know what the hell you're doing out there, every time a truck or van breaks down....and YOU get blamed for it.
