The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, announced that it is pleased to be distributing food stamps to the greatest number of people ever.

Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "Please do not feed the animals" because they may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

Well said! Meanwhile....Rev Jessie Jackson says calling Obama the food stamp president is a compliment!

yes there is alot of fs people. some should not get it. But the reason I see is for years there were so many that legitimately deserve them and they were the ones that, are to proud to apply.
I for 1 am like this, but there are many others.
What i see is that, the abusers make it bad for those who really need it. therefore first thing most people see is a 'bum' or lazy. This is a sterotype that has been put into our minds.
I'll admit i get angry that people will load up on 'junk food' but not the essential the program is intended for. But as i say do not judge what you do not know.. there are alot of working people that need these to help make ends meet. I know both the lazy and not the lazy.
I know i will be aucertized for this comment, but hey to each his(her) own. LOL

NOBODY deserves them if they're paid for with money not given directly and by choice.

That's hilarious.

One minor point, the National Park Service is under the Department of the Interior, not the Department of Agriculture. The Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture are two separate and distinct Cabinet positions and have nothing to do with each other.

Interior is correct, animals DO become dependent on 'hand outs'. They will often either die or become violent if the hand outs are cut off. Sound familiar?
This is really funny, in a kinda sad sort of ways.

In duck hunting circles ducks who are fed by people are known as "popcorn ducks". Popcorn ducks are FAR easier to kill than true wild birds. They come in looking for 'freebies'.

In the fish world it is no different. When I worked at that state park in PA the marina patrons used to feed the bluegills. They would follow people up and down the bulk heads, looking for hand outs. As the crowds thinned at the enc of the season many died because they had forgotten how to find food on their own. They were extremely easy to catch.
