First Week With Panther

Just finished my first week withe Panther. Everything is going as promised so far! Co-Driving with a owner operator which is a little strange I guess, especially when it's major decision time. A owners priorities sometimes differ with a driver/quasi-employee. An owner wants to keep the wheels turning even if it means burning fuel to move to a potential better location while as a driver everytime the truck moves empty it's costing me money from the load I just delivered. I'm on a 60/40 split with the owner whois also my co-driver and we split the fuel, tolls and 60% income. This is a concept that is going to take me a while to
get the jest of. Fortunately, I'm with a owner that doesn't mind a lot of questions but it's all going to be a learning process Thanksagain to everyone who offered info to me prior to starting
Any other newbies with questions about Panther especiallythe hiring process, orientqtion, etc ask away. I live 750 miles away from my co-driver/owner so I'm staying out 6 weeks at a time and then driving home for 10 days and returning...get online at flying j's because they have wireless for my laptop

I was wondering about you living so far from your co-driver. I've been talking with somebody I think I would be very interested in co-driving with. And, he is the owner of an "E" unit.

He is in Ohio and I'm in Dallas. At least 1100 miles. Not bad if you have a load, but a disaster if I'm driving my pickup back home. He thought I could stop off in Dallas if we drive through and he would just keep driving solo until we can hook back up again. I don't know. I'm afraid he'd leave me there!!! LOL

Were you unable to find a closer co-driver?

Tell me about orientation at Panther. I'm trying to get more information on expediting orientation. I'm very aware of OTR orientation. Also, with Panther, if one doesn't have a year OTR with a class "E", will they allow him on a truck with a more experienced driver?

Thanks.

Hi Mike,

Give us a rundown of the process you took to get started

Did you have your CDL already ????

What did you need to do at orientation ???

Are you covering the fuel costs or is the owner deducting them from your split ?????

Fill us in..

Thanks
